Camtasia task bar icon disappearing randomly

When I open Camtasia from the task bar, the icon randomly just disappears. This is problematic, because I might not see that I have Camtasia still opened with unsaved changes. It doesn't happen for ANY other program. Any ideas? Maybe it minimizes to the tray or something (there is no tray icon tho)

I've seen it many times where Camtasia is busy with an operation and the icon disappears. Usually when I'm in the process of perhaps rendering or uploading to ScreenCast.

Well it definitely happens when there is nothing running in Camtasia. Just an opened project. Is it possible to save my Camtasia settings so I can de- and reinstall it without having to set everything up again?

question ... is the Camtasia task bar icon "pinned" to the task bar?

otherwise, you can export a project as a zip to save it, but ... an install/reinstall of Camtasia will require you to redo the program's settings again

Yes it is pinned to the task bar. Why do you ask?

you're probable very safe dealing with tech support; I've worked with them for 15 years without any problem from whatever stuff I shared with them

another thing to try ...

with Camtasia closed, unpin the Camtasia icon; launch Camtasia again; re-pin the icon

any improvement?

also, is your task bar set to auto-hide?

I've tried that unpinning and repinning already and my task bar is always showing, but only on my primary monitor. The 2nd monitor doesnt have a task bar at all.
I guess I will contact the tech support then.

thanks for the follow-up info; perhaps it's the 2 monitor thing?

if you can, please let us know if tech support finds the cause/solution

Camtasia is just a buggy mess even though it costed >200€. I have a huge list of bugs of which none got fixed. At this point I don't even try to fix all this anymore.

If anyone is interested, the tech support could not solve it and the problem is still there today.
