Along with the recordability does Camtasia also have the capture/edit features that SnagIt offers?  I'd rather have one product that does it all.

Hi Sherry

All I can say is "good luck with that"!

Think of Camtasia and SnagIt to be like two similar tools. Each being specialized for its own purpose.

SnagIt rocks for allowing a static screen capture to be taken, annotated and manipulated. Camtasia rocks for recording full motion demonstrations and manipulating those.

So think of SnagIt as being like a Kodak pocket camera. And Camtasia as being like a Sony Camcorder.

Cheers... Rick :)

Camtasia will give you a very nice screen capture program for video. But as far as editing goes, SnagIt does a lot of things well for still Images. SnagIt's screen recording feature for video is rudimentary at best " In my Opinion".
But it can do a lot of things with still Images captured from your monitor that Camtasia cannot.

Camtasia is primarily designed for recording your screen and creating videos. It also has other features that allow Teachers to create quizzes for students. And a long list of other things. But it's not designed for single image processing like SnagIt.

Your question  is a subject with a lot layers. The additional questions and possible answers are far reaching.
You can download  30 day free trials of both programs. You should take advantage of that and judge for yourself {:> )
