Camtasia Version 8 update from 7

My company bought Camtasia v7 which was upgraded for free via the software to version 8. I have quite a few projects that were made in version 8. My laptop has been replaced so I had to install version 7 again with the key we have been supplied. I thought I would just be able to upgrade this to v8 via the check for updates but now it only gives me the option to buy version 9. I have downloaded the installer for 8 but it will not accept the key I have for version 7. How can I upgrade v7 to 8 like I did previously so I can edit my projects?

Hmmm, normally a major update (from 7 to 8 or from 8 to 9) is a paid update. Unless, of course, you purchase some kind of maintenance plan. I think TechSmith offers or offered those.

Odds are we won't be able to help you here in the forums and you will need to contact TechSmith. But you might first try their key lookup using the link below:

Maybe I missing something here but can't your company make the upgrade on your machine as you said they did already.

No as I upgraded from 7 to 8 via the check for updates within Camtasia software. Now I am back on 7 this now only points me to v9 for a cost. Issue is I have v8 projects that will not open in v7. I have to contact techsmith, maybe Rick is right and was some sort of maintenance plan that I am not aware of.

Cheers anyway
