hell there... i am trying to use camtasia to record my gameplay for the game i play on my PC but i am having problems with the program capturig my screen....

Everytime i start camtasia it's normal and nothing is wrong, but it comes to were i get to the little window that comes up in the bottem right. when i hit record i wait the 3 seconds and i tried a test run to see how well it captures my screen. i gave it a good 30 seconds and went to a couple different websites to stress test.....

anyways when i hit the F10 button and check the preview i was able to hear the sounds fomr the capture but the screen was blank and i did not see anything....

here are my computer specs for what it's worth.
- Windows 7 pro 64 bit
- i7 920 Proc
- 12 Gigs ram
- Nvidia 480 GTX GPU

am i supposed to link Camtasia to my GPU or something or is this not supposed to happen?

This sounds like something you might want to contact tech support for. They can provide some more in-depth troubleshooting than we can provide here! I hope you get this figured out! And, if the game is Skyrim and you're teaching magical techniques, let me know. :)

I am having the exact same problem. It will record the audio, but it is just black when for the screen capture. Did they ever fix your problem?

Great news! We've just released Camtasia Studio 8, which we've redesigned from the ground up for better stability and performance. We think there's a good possibility that this particular issue has been resolved in the latest version.

Among many other features, Camtasia Studio 8 ships with a brand-new, lightning-fast codec called TSC2 that is designed for recording high-speed screen activity at high frame rates while maintaining quality and keeping the recording file size down.

You can download a free, fully-functional 30-day trial of Camtasia Studio 8 here:

Thank you again for your feedback!

Why is it that we must spend $300+ for a new version? Why can't the version we already bought and paid for work???????? This is the exact reason I will not upgrade because a year or two down the road there will be yet ANOTHER upgrade that must be bought at another $300 to work correctly. No thank you.

Hi Janie,
Can you tell us what trouble you are having and what version of Camtasia you are using?
We would be very glad to help you out if we can!
