Camtasia 8.4.2 - Disable playback speed option in smartplayer

My suggestion would be to include an option to disable playback speed when producing a video using the MP4 flash/html5 smartplayer profile (and perhaps other profiles too).

Tech support says the playback speed options were in the HTML output created by Camtasia v 8.3.  In v 8.4.2, the options are not in the HTML.  Speeding up or slowing down a video usually a great option, but not when it's a video of an interview with the president of your company.  Funny for me, but I wouldn't post it online with the ability to change the rate of play.

So, after looking in the code for quite some time and calling tech support, we weren't able to find the option.  Right after hanging up, I found the line of code in "techsmith-smart-player.min.js":

Just in case it ever comes up, to remove the gear/settings button from the player, simply delete:

<button id="settingsButton" name="Settings" type="button" class="spritesheet settings_off_button_normal control_button" title="',(o=n.accessBtnSettings)?,{hash:{},data:r}):(o=t&&t.accessBtnSettings,a=typeof o===u?,{hash:{},data:r}):o),s+=c(a)+"\"><span class='sr-only'>",(o=n.accessBtnSettings)?,{hash:{},data:r}):(o=t&&t.accessBtnSettings,a=typeof o===u?,{hash:{},data:r}):o),s+=c(a)+'</span></button>\r\n

It would be nice if this was an option when producing the video with a player.

Would be cool to allow only slowing of videos. If I've got a technical video that may need additional scrutiny, slowing the playback is sometimes a good idea, but definitely not speeding it up. Good idea!

David, thanks for this post and heads up; I too would like to be able to remove the playback speed control from my videos as it has no useful function with the content I produce

I tested your technique and it wotks

I like the option too but thanks so much for including the variable speed. I produce programs for medical students and everything is listened to in 2x speed until they hit a portion they don't understand. There be a revolt if I took that capability away from them now.

The other problem with the control is that it screws up accessibility!  Really shoddy accessibility work with the smart player.  When you tab to the settings control it pops up, but the control index is not accessible until you tab over 3 more times, skipping the full screen button.  a blind person can't tell where the controls are.

 I have to disable the table of contents control because it is not accessible either.
