I'm having an intermittent problem with the first frame png files automatically created when producing videos.

The first time I produce a project, I don't get the first-frame:

Then I produce it again with the same settings and get the first-frame:

I'm using the custom settings for the MP4-Flash/HTML5 player.

This problem has happened on at least two videos, where the first production is missing the file (even though first-frame is listed in the production list) and the second one is fine.

I'm not sure the consequence of this problem when I start batch producing videos.

Thanks for your help.

In the mean time, I found by creating and using a preset, this problem goes away.

First of all, Camtasia Studio 8 absolutely ROCKS! This is great work and take the product to a whole new level and ease of video production. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I am having a similar problem. The first frame is never generated. I am using the upload to Screencast.com presets. I cannot find the option to set the first frame either. I am allowing the thumbnail to be created automatically but that doesn't help.

Hi Wally,
Sorry this slipped through.
I checked around and do have some news. This is my understanding at this time:

This looks like a bug associated with the batch production. If you produce an individual video via the Production Wizard in the editor, I would expect the frame would always be there. In fact, it looks like the first video that's processed in the batch conversion will have the correct frame but subsequent ones will not.

I believe some progress has been made on this bug and the fix will be in an upcoming release (probably before version 9) but I don't have a date for you at this time.

I'm also sorry I don't have a good workaround for you, but I hope the news will at least lay out the situation.

Sincerely,
Mike Curtis
