Hey Alex,

I'd like to get an install log from you as you install the software.

Click Start-->Run. A dialog box should appear.
Click Browse and then browse to the Camtasia.msi icon (wherever it may be on your machine)
Double click on the icon so it puts the path in the "Run" dialog box.
The last thing showing in the path should be \Camtasia.msi"
I need you to add the following so it looks like \Camtasia.msi" /l*v log.txt
Then click Okay. It should try and start the installation like normal and give you the installation error. That is fine.
A log file will be created in the same place as your Camtasia.msi icon.
Send that log file.

You can upload the file through this service: http://tinyurl.com/support-upload

Please select "Logan S" as the recipient so that the file will be sent directly to me.

Last, be sure to message me back here to let me know that the file has been uploaded.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,
Logan

Hi, I'm also having the same problem with the same error on Win8 32bit. It applies to Jing, Camtasia and Snagit, basically all installation packages that use MSI.

Hey guys,

Here is just the MSI file that you can install, that should solve your issue. The only caveat is that without running the EXE file, we can't be sure you have .net4 installed, so make sure you do have that.

Hope this helps everyone.

If you run the installer, the MSI file (and DotNetFX40Client) will be extracted to %HOMEPATH%\Local Settings\Temp\

No need to worry guys... I have a solution for this... After double-clicking on camtasia.exe file, it extracts the data to temporary folder which is the temp folder of ur current user.. there u will get the extracted file and from there u can install it..

If u cant able to find it, then goto local disk c and from there in the search bar
Type --- setup_*.msi     and then press enter
It shows the extracted file and install it from there
