Hi Craig,

Camtasia for Mac doesn't come with a "Library" (the collection of pre-installed assets) that Camtasia Studio does.

There are many places to get royalty-free music. For paid content I, personally, like the quality of Premium Beat (http://www.premiumbeat.com/). There's also Digital Juice (http://www.digitaljuice.com/products/...). For free stuff, I know of some that use incompetech.com or danosongs.com.

Here's how I used background music in the Camtasia for Mac getting stared series:

it's been seven years since Mac users began asking for the same features as in the Windows versions of Camtasia. 7 years. That's plenty of time for you guys to get your act together and figure out how to add a library for Mac users.

Does this article still apply? The below link comparison of camtasia Studio to Mac says there are multiple Audio and Video tracks available for both however I have not been able to locate any audio files on the Camtasia 2 for Mac version.

Hi Blair,

We currently don't offer pre-installed audio files for use in Camtasia for Mac projects. The comparison article is actually referring to the ability to have multiple video or audio tracks on your timeline. In other words, your audio and video assets are not limited to specific tracks.

In any case, if downloadable/pre-installed music assets are something you'd like to see in a future release of Camtasia for Mac, I'd encourage you to make a feature request. It looks like there's a pre-existing thread here: https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/media_library_and_soundtracks_for_camtasia_2_begging.... Clicking the "Me Too!" button on that page will support that idea.

It would be great to see pre-installed music assets with Camtasia for Mac.  It's definitely a selling point for me.  One of the reasons I use Apple iMovie editor is that it has an extensive catalog of free music.  Regards.

I notice that if I download the tracks from http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia-library-media-music-tracks.html, rename to ***.zip and unzip them, I am able to drag and drop them to my Camtasia 2 for Mac. Can I legally do so, and use the video as if I was using the Windows version?

Hi Rune,

Thanks for the great question and sorry for taking so long on the reply--we had to do some digging into our agreements with the providers of that content.

The official answer is that, yes, you can legally use them in Camtasia for Mac.

And how do you establish a library in Camtasia 2 to store them in for quick access?

I'm not sure you can.  I created a separate Camtasia file and stored several of them on the timeline. Ditto for callouts that I custom created in SnagIt. Then I name the Camtasia file something like, "Saved Media".

I then open the file and drag it into the file I am using.

Cheers!
