When I try to screen capture a few minutes of a DVD video my video plays on screen just fine but when I try to look at it in Camtasia it appears of have recorded a blank (checkerboard) screen. Am I missing a setting somewhere? This is the latest version of Camtasia for Mac. Thanks.

Because of how DVD playback works, you may not be able to record it with any screen capture tool. Try using a DVD ripping program like HandBrake instead to directly convert the DVD video to another format such as mp4 or QuickTime movie that you can import into Camtasia.

Are you using Mac OS X 10.7 Lion? Apple recently changed the screen capture APIs in a way that keeps us from capturing protected content. Your workarounds are to do what David suggested or to do the capture on a machine that's running Mac OS X 10.6.

I need Camtasia to record a few minutes of the video from an iTunes purchased Television episode.

When I record it currently, the itunes window I am recording, where there should be a recording of the TV Episode, there is a grey and white checkered box. I can hear the audio fo the TV show, but it is like iTunes blocks the TV episode from being recorded.

How do I work around this?
