I have been using Camtasia Studio 8 and Camtasia Recorder and everything worked just fine. Two days ago I was told to update and now I can't open either. When I click Camtasia Studio I receive this message "Your computer isn't meeting the Micorosft .Net requirement to run. Please install this requirement and requirement and restart the application.". When I click Camtasia Recorder "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed. Needless to say I can no longer use Camtasia, is there a fix for this?". BTW I use Windows 7

Troy,

It sounds like something went wrong with the update.  Can you please try downloading a fresh copy of the installer, and run it again?

Dave,

Thank you for your reply. Do you recommend I download the Camtasia Studio 8 or just the installer, if just the installer, how would I find a link to just the installer? Thank you again.

You need to instal previously the Net Framework.

Try this link:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30653

or googling by 'net framework'

I actually started downloading the Camtasia Studio 8 again. Things were going well until it stalled with the below message.

Camtasia Studio 8

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

Click OK to try again. or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Setup_CamtasiaStudio8_x86_ENU.msi' in the box below.

C:\Users\Troy\AppData\Local\Temp\Camtasia_Setup\

When I click OK, I receive this message:

"The file 'C:\Users\Troy\AppData\Local\Temp\Camtasia_Setup\' is not a valid installation package 'Setup_CamtasiaStudio8_x86_ENU.msi' in a folder from which you can install Camtasia Studio 8"

Troy,

You can download the latest version from this page:  http://www.techsmith.com/download/camtasia/

I'd also recommend checking the amount of free disk space you have in your temp folder.  There's definitely something going wrong with the install process.

If you continue to have problems, please visit http://support.techsmith.com  and open a ticket there.  This will put you in contact with our TechSupport staff who can follow up with you by email to help troubleshoot further.

Solution found :
Try opening the Camtasia from its original location not from the shortcut.
C:\Program Files (x86)\TechSmith\Camtasia Studio 8
The Shortcut may have been affected by Windows Upgrade or Boot.
