Hello,
We have good news to share! You let us know you missed the Undo and Redo buttons so we added them back to the Camtasia Studio 8 timeline!

Also, (Shift + scroll) now scrolls the timeline horizontally.

The new version, 8.02 has the new Undo / Redo buttons and several bug fixes in it. If you currently have Camtasia Studio installed, you can select Help menu > Check for Updates to get the latest version.

Or, the new version can be downloaded here:

For a list of all the issues / enhancements included in version 8.02, go here:

P.S. Copy Zoom / Pan animations is NOT in this release. It is on our radar!!

Is this a download of the whole product again? I get the "Get Camtasia free for 30 days" screen when clicking the link above.
I've had some crashing issues when adding camrec files anywhere but at the very beginning of the timeline (00:00:00;00) and when trying to open camproj files in the Studio. I see that some crashing is dealt with, "Fixed a startup crash in the Camtasia Studio editor".
Support has stopped responding to my ticket, I'm wondering if it is because this is the fix. If so, do I have to download this (8.02) as a whole new version?

Hello,
Yes, please download the build you see on that page. Then install that version.
You shouldn't have to uninstall before you reinstall this new version.

However, it wouldn't hurt to uninstall and then reinstall the new version, if you are so inclined to do that.

When prompted, save your Library content.

I hope this helps!

Thank you Kelly, I did..would you believe the installer crashed the first time, but, I tired again and I now use 8.02
Unfortunately, it did not fix any of my issues...(cringes) I use Ctrl+Z for undo

When I go to Help menu > Check for Updates the dialog doesn't indicate that there is an update at all?

Follow the link in Kelly's post. It takes you to the main download page. I know it looks like you are downloading a whole new copy, but, it will be the update. I too looked at the Help menu when I heard an update was coming and like you found that it did not direct me to either of 8.01 (which I didn't know about) or 8.02. Kelly's link is valid

Yeah, was just asking the question in the feedback form "Why do Camtasia Studio 8 users get the message about trying Camtasia Studio 8, instead of actual update information when checking?" and found out there was an update 19 days ago.
Kind of flaky, but glad I found out about it.

I just downloaded the file from Kelly's link and it appears that the file is OLDER than my original camtasia8 download. What should the date of this exe file be? The one I just got is dated 5/29 but the file I originally downloaded is dated 6/19

Kelly's link is going to the right place still, but I'm not sure about the date stamps. Here's a direct link to the exe installer: http://download.techsmith.com/camtasi...

I just downloaded it as a test and my date is August 16th (today) since I just created it on my system.

The important thing is when you go to Help > About Camtasia Studio you see version 8.0.2 (build 918) Jul 16, 2012.

Let us know if that's not what you see in Help > About Camtasia Studio, and we'll have to troubleshoot what could be going on. You should just install that right over whatever version of Camtasia Studio 8 is on your machine.

Sincerely,
Mike Curtis

Thanks Mike. I got the correct file from Help > Check for Updates and have confirmed that I have 8.0.2 installed now :)
