Camtasia studio 8 audio keeps getting out of sync

This has been happening lately now, nearly every downloaded audio or recorded audio goes out of sync. I love this editing program but audio sync seems to be a huge freaking deal here. How come the videos don't go out of sync but the audio does? I got to keep going back to the start to replay the audio, if I stop and pause at one part of the audio and I press play to continue, it starts playing the audio that is 6-7 seconds delayed. I really need help ASAP

I also faces a similar problem if I render the video out as avi.
Although its not as severe , its still noticeable and frankly .. quite annoying

Anyone have an answer for this? I'd really love to stick with Camtasia and I'm going to have to leave it to finish my work if I can't fix this issue.

Has there not been an answer to this - I have now developed this problem when I downloaded camtasia to a new hard drive and it seems response to my help question is none to fast.

Hmm, I get this a bit after I have been editing for a while. Questions:

If you export the video with audio, does the audio remain out of sync?
Sometimes when I have heavily edited my projects my mac struggles to process it all as 4+ individual tracks, after export everything runs smoothly. I find Advanced Export, high quality MP4 works fine.

Are you using external audio recorders? Do they have an independent interface/ processor?
build in delays might be effecting it.

When you 'slice' a section of your video, does the audio move slightly?
This happens in Imovie, it creates a few milliseconds of 'buffer room' or something.

Is your audio set to record at 44.1Khz sample rate?
this will probably be in your system preferences or something.

Hope any of these questions/ thoughts help any of you out, bit of a audio nerd but no professional by far.

I realize this is an old thread, so this is more for new people finding this thread via a Google search...

With Camtasia Studio 8, MP3 audio that was encoded as Variable Bitrate can cause issues like those described in this thread.  The problem with VBR MP3 files is that there's no index which describes where the "frames" of audio are in the file.  This affects seeking, cuts, and pause/resume.  Basically the only thing that works with these files is playing or producing the whole file with no cuts and no pausing.

If you have such a file, and you wish to use it, the workaround is to produce just the audio as a constant bitrate MP3 file, or export the audio to uncompressed WAV at 44.1 kHz, 16-bit, Stereo.  When doing this, do not make any cuts.  Use that file (the CBR MP3 or WAV file) instead of the VBR MP3 file in your project in Camtasia Studio 8 or earlier.

With Camtasia 9, we've improved our support for VBR MP3 files such that these workarounds are no longer required.

Thank God for your comment, even though it's 4 years late. This saved me a lot of headache. It's such a simple answer I can't believe it's taken 4 years to come up with this.

I was just considering returning to Camtasia until I read @daytradersetups comment that the out-of-synch issue is still not fixed. I don't have this problem in any other editor.

They did give me a fix or i found one on the internet think was the type file record option , it was a fix until yesterday i did 2 videos that were out of sync again.  Had been quite fine until now.  I do really like to product and have made about 50 recording that have been very good quality and easy to build multiple part productions

@daytradersetups can you provide more info about the fix you reference "the type file record option" ?  Can you confirm you are using Camtasia 9?

Not sure where you set this but i am recording in AVI format (i think that is what i changed from what ever the default was)

under edit preferences i have Canvas set to:  Max 1080p HD  Width 1920 Height 1080

When i set up my Production Presets (sharing in MP4 format)
frame rate 30
keyframe rate 5
bitrate mode  Quality Mode
h264profile  High
h264 level Auto
video quality  60%
audio bitrate 128 kbps
audio format  AAC

Thats all i can figure out, I am still using, and i still have some out of sync on the audio / video

Most of my segments are recorded in lengths of 4-8 min SO i guess the restart kind of resets the insync of those items (i would assume the longer the vid the more out of sync you might become and that the rest of you recording would only get worse)

Sorry that's all i have

I was having the same issue - recorded some videos (Win 7 Camtasia 8.6) that were synced perfectly in Camtasia, produced/exported them in various formats and with & without GPU acceleration and when they played in Windows Media Player it was out of sync by the end of the 5 minute video. Then I tried playing it back in VLC and the sync was fine. It was a Windows/Media Player issue. for me. Hopefully this is helpful to someone else!

Here is another similar post that Mike Spinks replied to after I put in a support ticket and it may also help explain this issue. I hope they get this repaired/fixed soon.

Hope this helps a little bit more.

Hi Guys, I found a temporary solution that worked for me. Add the audio and render it out as a black video. Add the video back , separate audio but don't delete the black video , just make it invisible. The audio now stays linked and stable . Hope this helps someone.

I still have issues with this as well. For 200 bucks they need to fix.  I don't need to work harder or longer

Just started the 30 Day trial and I'm experiencing this issue.  No way I'm paying that until this issue is fixed. It should just work.

Hi there;

For issues like this the best bet is to open a support ticket as there are a number of potential reasons for a/v sync issues to occur. By opening a Support Ticket you can work directly with one of our technical support team members to determine the issue.

My Camtasia was working perfectly. Then I noticed sync problem after about 20 videos I rendered. I asked myself, "What changed on my computer?"  I had installed the Amazon Music App. When I uninstalled it, Camtasia started to work properly. So you might want to see if there is any software you installed recently that is causing the problem. It would not hurt to delete the files in the "temp" folder at c:/Users/Yourname/AppData/Local/Temp/. If you are a power user, flush this folder out often. I hope this helps.

Yes I am having this trouble too.   I have used Camtasia for years and this has only just started, without me changing any presets or how the video is rendered.  I am wondering if I should risk upgrading to Camtasia 9 or maybe not bother?  I do prefer Camtasia to Adobe Premier Pro because it has a simple interface, but maybe I better just learn Adobe.

I installed Camtasia on a new more powerful laptop. No more sync problems. It appears that as more software programs are installed and consume the computer memory resource, Camtasia does not like this. Camtasia needs a lot a memory to run without issue.

Hmmm. Didn't make a difference for me. I was running on a PC with a top I7 processor and 32GB of RAM.
