I've had camtasia studio 8 for a while now and one day it decides to stop working. have the latest version and when I open it, the logo pops up in the middle of the page, disappears and windows opens the message "Camtasia studio has stopped working" before the actual program opens. Camtasia recorder works fine, it's just the studio. In event viewer, the error details are:

THANK YOU!!! I uninstalled and re-installed adobe flash and it didn't work, updating my video and sound card drivers failed since it didn't meet the requirements??? I then went back to adobe and installed the flash player specifically for internet explorer which I don't use and it worked!!! Thanks alot, I can finally get back to making videos.

hi guys, maybe have you an AMD graphic card and installed an application like Radeonpro or D3DOverrider? You have to disable the api detection adding the camtasia profile to the app... 'cause those apps can make conflict ;-) glad to help you

"Camtasia studio has stopped working". Got this message from the very beginning. The link referred to above http://techsmith.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/826/~/camtasia-studio%3A-crashes-right-after-s... tells me "This site has been disabled for the time being."
This is garbage.

Thanks for your patience as we've worked to address the issue in this thread. There are many possible causes for the "Camtasia Studio has stopped working" message. If you're getting this message, our TechSupport staff is best equipped to help you work toward a resolution. This is a free service. You can open a ticket with them by visiting https://support.techsmith.com and someone will follow up with you by email to help.
One of the most common issues we saw with Camtasia Studio version 8.x was that with larger dimension videos and/or complex projects with a lot of cuts. As a 32-bit application, version 8.x was limited to between 3-4 GB of memory, even if your system had more to give. This is a limit of 32-bit applications, even if you are running on a 64-bit machine with more than 4 GB of RAM. When these memory limits are reached, it's possible that this could cause the error message in the title of this thread.
We've now released Camtasia 9.0, which is fully a 64-bit application. This enables the use of more memory, which allows Camtasia to use more resources from your system, and this resolves many of the issues we saw in version 8.x. If you're running 64-bit Windows, you can download the free trial here: https://www.techsmith.com/download/camtasia/
If you continue to experience problems similar to those described in this thread, please open a ticket with our TechSupport staff as described above and we'll work with you to diagnose and fix the issue.
