Camtasia's Audio & Video Out of Sync

Among other things:
When more than one track is highlighted, and you try to shift-click another, the tracker immediately moves to where you shift-clicked.
As I was recording a 20-minute long video, the ending got cut off, unexpectedly quit, and now the audio and video are completely unsynched, and some random bits of audio are missing.
Won't let YouTube partners upload videos longer than 15 minutes.
No ability to add text boxes, as far as I can see.

Oh and yes you can add text boxes.
Click Callouts > Expand the menu with the arrows and rectangle > go down to special > click the T

I used camtasia in my videos and you can see some stuff you can do.
My youtube username is aakashm1.

You can also have it show whatever you type throughout when you were recording as a callout by going into callouts > opening up the menu > special > Traditional Keystrokes (Ctrl + V symbol)

HI,
If you are looking to add captions, I would use the Captions editor versus the text callouts.

Camtasia Studio 7.1 has one of the most robust Captioning editors around.

We have lots of videos and help topics on working with captions.
Just search the in-product help file for "Captions"

Hi there,
I think you need to give our Technical Support a call. Since it is the weekend, please do so quickly to see if you can get ahold of someone before we close for two days.
Call:
Phone: +1.517.381.2300
Toll Free: 800.517.3001 (US & Canada only)

Or, open a ticket online here. Add a link to your video in that ticket so they can see what is going on.

I'm sorry, but it will be faster for them to help you diagnose what is going on.

My suspicion is your music notes are being keyed faster than the audio can keep up with in the recording.
You could try making a split at the location on the timeline where the video / audio go out of sync then apply clip speed to that section to get it synced up again.

Good luck!!

Thanks Kelly,
I had talked to Janson, tech support on the phone and working on it for days now. I send him everything's he asked for so I just have to be patient and wait. i created these videos on a AMD chip 2.5 GHZ - 6 gigs memory - used on-board video chip - run on windows 7 home version. I am waiting for a new computer Dell Optiplex 990 Intel chip i7 - 16 gigs of memory - 1 gig of video card add-on - I hope my issues with video & system sound be gone. Have a great weekend.

Hello everyone
I have my issue resolved thanks to Aaron from tech-support help to diagnose and update the latest video & audio for my PC. He also changed the video setting in camtasia recorder from 15 frame per second to 30 frames per second.
Now my video and audio1 & audio2 are synchronized and looking so good. Have a great and safe weekend. May your dreams come true and God be with you and your love ones Always. Amen.

I have this same problem where the video and audio is out of sync. I use version 7.1 on a i7 Dell E6420 with Win 7 Ultimate. Never had this issue on previous machines. Any ideas?

CAM 8.02 I have been having coninues sync issues too and to add more fun- audio popping during the recording. I have upgraded, defragged, unloaded background programs. Nothing helps. I am really getting to hate this new version.

I have been having multiple audio issues with 8.02 Audio goes out of sync (primarily noticeable with mouse clicks being a second late), the wave form is off, so cutting visually by the wave form cuts out half of a word, and even in the rendered movies, I am getting audio the stutters, giving a kind of echo effect with parts of word repeats. I am in the middle of recording a bunch of tutorials and this is making me look bad, unprofessional. I thought this was just new release bugs that would get quickly resolved, but it is over a month now... Do I need to revert back to 7.x?

Maybe a solution:
I noted that the default sound recording setting is set for 22.05kHz stereo. I looked at other threads and went outside of Techsmith. I tried Audacity to see if my system was impaired- no. Fact is that Camtasia is the source of the issues. Things improved greatly when I changed my setting to a sample rate of 44.100 kHz 16 bit stereo.

How to:
In recorder: go to tools;options; Inputs tab;Audio Setting; (scroll from default- and set at 44.100kHz 16Bit Stereo.

(you can reduce your frame capture rate- but the video motion can get choppy when you are doing precise mouse usage and direction.)

Give that a try a reply to this question with results. I hope it helps.

(BTW: I totally get Franks Comments. What a huge waste of our time troubleshooting their program.)

Hey David,

Thanks for your post! It did the trick! It has solve about 95% of my audio problems! I just would have never thought to check the recording settings of the audio. I couldn't believe your statment that the default setting would be so low, and got shocked when I went there and saw that it was!

I can understand why Tech Smith might set audio settings low by default for a render, but for recording??? Just makes no sense! Especially when it causes so many problems! I wonder why they are shooting themselves in the foot like this?? In another thread there are a bunch of people returning to 7.x because of this issue. I was about to do the same.

Now I am a happy camper. Thanks for the tip!

Actually - it didnt solve the issue. It meant I could use the video. Yes, the audio won't be as good, but I wasn't about to re-record it!
