I am running SnagIt Version 2018.2.6 on an iMac. Can I open an image from SnagIt to another application such as Adobe Photoshop? I recall I could do it with earlier versions on Windows. But I can't see how to do with with the Mac version.

If you save the image as a PNG, TIFF or JPG you'll be able to open it in Photoshop.

Okay thanks. I recall being able to open it without having to save it as a PNG, TIFF or JPG from an earlier version of SnagIt on Windows.

From what you recall, were you in SnagIt and somehow clicked a button or a menu item and PhotoShop magickally opened with the image in place and ready for editing?
This thread is for SnagIt Windows, but it is a couple of years old. Does it maybe provide some clues?

Here is how to setup sharing to Photoshop in Windows Snagit.
I believe it should be the same for Mac, or dare close to it.

@Dubie thanks for the link. However, my Snagit 2018 Mac version did not seem to have the same options.

Maybe! Just went exploring... Right clicked on an image in the Snagit Library and chose the Share choice. I was able to add Acorn as a share choice. Returned to the same image and chose Acorn from the share choices. Voila! The Snagit image opened in Acorn.
I don't have Photoshop but possibly there is hope if the right combination is found.

The only applications that SharePoint 2018 allowed me to share with were Apple applications.
Come on Snagit!! Why would you let an earlier version of SnagIt to open Adobe Photoshop and not a later version?!! It would be nice to hear from SnagIt!

Hi,
The Mac version of Snagit never had this feature. Referencing Bob's post, the correct way for this to work in macOS is for the receiving application to create a sharing extension, like Acorn has. If Photoshop doesn't have this feature, that would be a great thing to request of them! If we made something, it would only work from Snagit to Photoshop, but if they were to make it, then you could share images to Photoshop from anywhere on your system.

Save your image as (say) a JPG and you can then use it in any compatible application, from Photoshop to Word, and send it to an external company for prints and so on.

I was hoping I could avoid the saving option. I guess I have no choice but to save it.

Looks like you were right. It has to be saved as a Photoshop compatible extension.
I guess the older Window's version already saved it so it could be shared with Photoshop.

To quickly open a Snag in PhotoShop on Mac:

- SnagIt (Copy to Clipboard must be enabled)
- Open PhotoShop, click NEW,
- Select "Clipboard" (it's the first choice) (see below)
- Paste your Snag into Photoshop; the image size will match the Clipboard size precisely.
