Can I record straight into a mixer and Camtasia?

I got a new head-worn microphone and my voice sounds a bit tinny. Is there a way to record straight into Camtasia via a mixer and have my voice sounding right? I want to avoid an extra step of recording and then having to run my audio through something like Audacity.

Hi there!

There are some great recommendations here, though I have an alternate path that may not require spending more money and I'd like you to possibly look into it if you are willing. If you are receiving "tinny" audio it could be due to a mismatch between the Windows frequency setting for the microphone, and Camtasia's frequency setting. Camtasia records audio at 44.1kHz and there are plenty of microphones that record at 48kHz (or higher), the disparity between these settings can often yield tinny or low-quality audio. I would like you to right click on the Speaker icon in the System Tray and go to Recording Devices. I would like you to then double-click on your microphone and then go to the Advanced tab and make sure it is set to 44.1kHz. Once set, try taking a test recording in Camtasia to see if the issue is addressed.
