Can I skip over a timeline selection during playback?

I misspoke during a screen capture session and need to delete a few seconds of my project. I'm trying to fine tune the selection start and end points and would like to play back the video/audio and have it skip over the selected area to hear how it would sound after I Ripple Delete. Is there a way to do that?

Perform the ripple delete, listen to it. If you don't like it. Hit Ctrl+Z to undue the Ripple Delete.

Make an adjustment and try again.

You can just lower the volume to zero for those few seconds so what you said can not be heard.

Separate audio from video. Select the audio you don't want to hear, right click and select silence audio. This just mutes the sound and if you want it back, you can undo or just remove the mute selection to put the audio back to normal.
