I have just installed Camtasia Studio 9. Can I uninstall Camtasia Studio 8 without affect? Is there any reason to leave Camtasia Studio 8 installed along with 9?

you can uninstall CS8 without affecting the CS9 installation

personally, I would leave both installed

if you have any CS7 archived projects, you will need to open/zip them in CS8 before importing that zip into CS9

also, you can use CS8's Recorder to capture CS9's Recorder in action, and vice versa

for me, CS8 and CS9 coexist very well side-by-side

Thanks for the clarification... I will leave it, but might have to uninstall due to low disk space on C:\

I just deleted some apps, so I have about 3GB.. but I load a lot of multi-media tools and the last one needed over 4GB

YOU NEED MORE DISK SPACE

Camtasia operations need lots of disk space to work correctly; 4 GB IMHO will not cut it

I try to have 50GB free before starting any CS work

OMG!  Under NO circumstance should you uninstall Camtasia 8.6 for two VERY GOOD reasons.

1. There is no need to uninstall because Camtasia 8.6 and Camtasia 9 will peacefully live together on your machine.
2. Much more importantly, you may find, as I and a host of other Camtasia 9 owners have discovered, the new version is replete with a HUGE number of  bugs, unexpected changes that virtually NO ONE likes, and you will, most likely, decide as others have that Camtasia 9 is a buggy, alpha-level release that must be abandoned in favor of working with Camtasia 8.6 to continue to get your work done.

I finally got around to installing Camtasia 9 and wasn't sure I needed 8.6 as I expected 9 would be everything I've found to be wonderfully easy to use and rely on.  So I am extremely happy to have found this thread.  Thank you Tim Frost.
