Can not import MP4 video recorded from a vehicle in-cab camera (blackview model 650) for editing. Says file type not supported. This is the very reason I bought this product.

Unfortunately,
Not all mp4's are created the same.
The only option is to transcode it in a program like Handbrake or VLC media player.

I was just about to say the same thing. [There is lots of techie stuff out there explaining codecs and formats-boring] I use a free app on my Windows 10 called Icecream media converter and you just reconvert your video file to mp4 using the program and I have always found it works well and I can use the new file in Camtasia.

Same here — I used to use VLC but prefer WinX (which is not free) as my format all-purpose can-opener-converter because it is easier to use and also doesn't degrade the quality during conversion.  (Be cautious about selecting converters other than VLC and Handbrake, as not all converters are the same.)

Another way is to play the cam video in a player (mention above) and use Camtasia to screen record it and then edit.
