Can Camtasia Studio tell me how many clicks occurred in a given recording?

I would like to know how many times someone clicked during a recorded session. I'm using Camtasia. It would be really nice if Camtasia could add markers on the timeline for every click and tell me what the total number was. Is this possible at the moment? I'm using Camtasia Studio 7.1.1

Hi Carien,

Camtasia Studio won't tell you how many clicks occurred during your recording, but you can manually count them on the timeline. On the cursor track, you will see a red tick mark every time the mouse was clicked. You can count the tick marks to get a total. To see the cursor track, select the Cursor Effects tab. If you see the cursor track, but don't see any tick marks, zoom in on the timeline. If you are zoomed out too far, they don't display.

I'm curious why you want to count clicks? Are you using Camtasia Studio for usability testing? If so, you should check out TechSmith Morae. It is designed specifically for usability testing, and it does count and report on clicks, as well as many other usability related metrics. You can learn more about it here: http://www.techsmith.com/morae.html

I hope this helps!

Thanks. Our company has a licence for Camtasia Studio, but unfortunately not for Morae - which I am quite familiar with...

Hi Shane,
I used to use Morae frequently for usability testing for many years, but frankly, you're company doesn't seem to be improving it any longer and I have stopped using it in favor of Camtasia to record my Remote Testing sessions along with WebEx and UserZoom to capture the metrics. I would second the feature request with regard to allowing Camtasia to count clicks. It already captures keystrokes, why not have it give me click data.
