Need to add Bank Gothic font to Snagit font library...can I just copy the font into the Snagit Library or does Snagit locate fonts from my computer's font library?

Thanks!

Hello,
You will need to install the font into the Windows Font folder and then it will populate in Snagit.

Thanks,
Kelly

I have added fonts to my Windows Font folder (Windows 7) and they are displaying in other programs. However, these do not display in Snag It 10.

Any help or assistance?

Thanks!

Hello,
I'm sorry you are having trouble.
The fonts should populate within Snagit.

Have you shut down Snagit Editor completely and tried it? Or, better yet.. reboot your computer and see if they auto-load when you start Snagit again.

Also, are the fonts unique in any way? Chinese characters, unusual dingbats, etc?

Are they TrueType?

I hope rebooting works for you! If it doesn't, let us know.

I had rebooted, yes.

It looks like the specific fonts are not TrueType, but instead OpenType. On previous versions of Snag It, this was not an issue. Are TrueType fonts now a requirement to display in Snag It?

Thanks again for the assistance.

I'm having the same problem. I have a font in Windows (NOT a new one, has been there a while) that is not showing up in Snagit 11, build 207.

The font is Myriad Pro, which is an Open Type font.

I'm having the same issue - OpenType fonts are installed in the main Windows 7 font file, but are not populating the SnagIt Editor list.

I just found the answer - http://techsmith.custhelp.com/app/ans...

Snagit 10 and 11 Editor will only recognize TrueType outlines on Windows XP and 7 but not PostScript. Both types work on Windows Vista.

Having the same issue. This is disturbing since using Open Type fonts was not an issue in Snag-It 9, and I have to use the company's font according to branding standards. Sigh.

I just bought the new version on Snagit and now my fonts don't work. They are OpenType. Can I get a refund and downgrade back to the other version? Or is there a way for my fonts to work?

Hi everyone, I have some good news from the Snagit team. You can still access all fonts on your system. You just can't do it the default way that's been exposed since Snagit 9 via the mini toolbar and advent of the Microsoft Ribbon implementation.

Here's how to do it:
1. Make a callout or text box.
2. Enter some text.
3. Right-click the callout (not the text you just created in the callout. You don't want the floating mini toolbar. You want the context menu for the actual callout/text box.)
4. Click Edit Text. You will be taken to the older interface where all fonts will be available.

Tip: Once you get the font how you like, save the callout or text box as a QuickStyle so you can save some steps in the future.

Here's a 1:25 video where I show the complete workflow: http://screencast.com/t/bTB9QvL42P

Will this way work for you?

Sincerely,
Mike Curtis

Hi,

I have problem with my plain text Callouts in SnagIt 11. I added a new font type I made restart and this new font is available in the drop-down menu. I managed to save a "style" - QuickStyle - but when I start typing the font changes back to Arial automatically and the "selection" in the Style-preview window disappears.

Would you be so kind and give me an advice what should I do?

Thanks in advance:
Nikos

In Snagit 12 all fonts you have installed in your OS is available in Snagit. If it changes back, mark the text you have written, then change it to your desired font. After you are satisfied with the look, save it to your quick styles.

"In Snagit 12 all fonts you have installed in your OS is available in Snagit." No, they are not. I have a font installed on my Windows 7 Professional machine, and it is available in other applications, but not Snagit 12. I have a ticket open with support.

It is a font created by the IBM Design Team. See ticket #182358; the font is attached to that ticket.

My fix: Un-/re-install Snagit 12. The fonts now appear in Snagit.

Hi rmedl,

Thanks for posting this fix.
While it is not optimal, at least it solved the issue.

I wonder if Snagit only reads the fonts one time - at install - versus reading through the font folder to continually update it.

I will make sure the Snagit devs see this post.

Thanks again,
Kelly

Where does this issue stand of Snagit not looking in the Font folder for new fonts?

I don't *always* mind rebooting, but really, just closing the app and then re-opening it should be the ONLY option IMHO...rebooting is just a time waster if you ask me!

This was an issue for me and my workaround was copy/paste from word to the editor and  you can adjust size and color as needed. Not the best, but definitely better than uninstalling.
