No, sorry. Camtasia for Mac will not open a .camproj.

However, if you produce an .mp4 with Camtasia Studio, you will be able to import that movie file onto a Camtasia for Mac timeline. It will, of course, just be a video file like any other at that point.

Thanks for posting.

You guys HAVE to fix this. We just moved to macs in the office and all of our projects that took months to create is worthless now unless we edit solely on  windows.

+1 for fixing this - I work in a company with users of Camtasia on both Mac and PC - this is really restrictive - the workaround of outputting to MP4 is not really a work around at all and is is useless.

Why not save the recording as a TREC and import the TREC file into the Mac version. Granted you can't import the entire project so some planning beforehand and knowing which machine is going to do the final editing is necessary.

What a lousy answer. Same problem here. Now I cannot finish a project that was started by another user overseas that I need to do final edits and voice overs. DIT IS EEN KUT SPEL!

We have developed some videos with Camtasia MAC and now need to edit with MAC. But we can't open camproj with MAC.  This is not a good approach how you develop a software you restrict users on one platform only.  Needs to be fixed ASAP.

Hi Everyone!

We want to thank you for your patience while we worked to make working across the Mac and Windows platforms a better experience. We are pleased to announce that we have just released our newest, most powerful version of Camtasia yet. And with this release, Camtasia Windows and Mac can both open our shared project file, .tscproj.

You can buy Camtasia here or download the trial here.

Please feel free to post your feedback and feature requests here in our Community forums and remember, all technical support-related inquiries should be directed to our dedicated Technical Support team at https://support.techsmith.com/

Thanks again!

This is not an answer to the problem of opening a .camproj file on a Mac. I made a ton of videos on my Windows computer; we have moved to Macs at my company and now I cannot open any of them in Camtasia 3. Are you seriously telling me I have to go dig up an obsolete Windows computer, buy the newest version of Camtasia JUST for this purpose, and then open and export my videos to a Mac compatible version? Really?

Dude, this is why we are moving to Premiere Pro. Camtasia just doesn't cut it.

@ josesaludonline ,

I believe you can open your older tutorials on windows, save them as the new file format, then open them on Mac. The license for both Windows and Mac are included in the new version, so you don't have to buy anything else, just WIndows 9 and Mac 3.

I have Camtasia 3 in my Mac, but I have an old version of Camtasia in Windows (I don ́t know what). How can I do it? Do you mean I should get a new version of Camtasia in my Windows device and convert them?

Thanks a lot for your help

you need to find out what old version of Camtasia Windows you do have; if you have CS7, and you have CS7 projects, you will need to open/upgrade/save them in CS8 before you can open/upgrade/save those in CS9

older versions may require more hoops to jump through
