Cannot initialize webcam.

I successfully captured a video on a laptop with external document camera once after downloading the SNAGIT trial. On the second and every subsequent attempt it says "Initializing" for a few moments then an error comes up "Unable to initialize webcam. Make sure it's connected."  Meanwhile, I can use the camera with the "Camera" app. Tried power cycle and driver is up to date on camera. Was considering buying SNAGIT after the first video went so well.  Now I appear to have hit a.....     ..........    snag.   : /

I think I fixed it. After pulling my hair out I realized I had plugged into a different USB port the first time. Sure enough, the USB port with a battery icon appears to be the only one that can effectively initialize with SNAGIT, despite other ports working for the integrated camera app. Mystery solved?
