Cannot open zip files from Mac in a Windows computer —any workaround?

Hi, I have been using Camtasia 3.1.7 in Mac and I now I want to use it in a Windows computer (version 9.1.4). I have exported my projects for Windows, but then I cannot open those zip files in Camtasia for Windows.

I get this error: "An error occurred while unpacking the project file. Ensure the file is a valid project file."

These archives are around 4-7 GB. When I try to open a smaller project (less than 1GB) I have no problem.

Why I am getting this error and how can I solve it? Is Camtasia not prepared to open such big files from Mac into Windows?

Thanks in advance

perhaps as a quick test download the free Camtasia 2019 demo, and try with that?

Thank you, I will look for the Camtasia 2019 demo and try with that. Also, any feedback from anyone who has already tried this with Camtasia 2019 would be very appreciated :-)

Unpack the zip file with something like 7zip to a folder and then see if you can open the
.tscproj (project) file.

Also the last version of 9 was 9.1.5
You can download it here

Thanks Dubie, I cannot unpack the zip file, I keep getting an error. I will try the last version of 9 to see if it works.

And as for the reply of kayakman, I have downloaded the trial version of Camtasia 2019 in Windows. Now the problem is that when I open with Camtasia 2019 the projects created with version 9.1.4 and try to export them for Mac, I get a compatibility error for Legacy callouts, Sketch motion callouts or Keystroke callouts so I cannot export these projects :-(

can you please confirm that Camtasia 2019 was able to import/load the zipped project from MAC 3.1.7.

regarding the export for MAC compatibility issue, I do not use the MAC version; is it possible that MAC doesn't support those objects?

if you don't have to further edit those items in MAC, produce the Win Camtasia 2019 project to MP4 and swap that media for original media clips, also deleting those items; then try the export to zip again

any luck?

Hi, Win Camtasia 2019 is able to import/load the zipped project from MAC 3.1.7 if it is less than 1GB aprox. However, when trying to upload zipped projects higher around 3-4GB, it causes an error.

suggest you contact free tech support re the issue

but you indicate that the import/load from MAC to Win works if zip [from MAC] is less than 1GB?

perhaps try this on a larger size MAC zip ...

when importing the MAC zip, uncheck "open project after import" [on the dialog]

that should extract the files into a folder but not load the project

then navigate to the extracted files and try to load the project file into Camtasia 2019; does that work?

Edit: I misspoke -> https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029867651-Camtasia-Windows-Camtasia-Cross-Platform-File-Formats

So real quick, apologies if I'm completely off-base. My understanding is that Windows Camtasia project files (.tscproj) and Mac Camtasia project files (.camproj) were not cross-platform for Camtasia 9-PC/Camtasia 3-Mac.

I'm not sure if they're cross platform for Camtasia 2018/2019, but I was pretty sure they weren't cross-platform for earlier versions. Is this not the case?
