As per the title. You guys should really be on the ball regarding this browser.

You can't sign into Google accounts either from Camtasia or Snagit either if this browser is set as Windows default (have opened a support ticket about this).

That's why I have 5 browsers I can use. Firefox works great and remembers my password. Chrome ditto, Brave also but I can't get it to remember my password here nor most other places. Just tried edge it works also, and it remembered my password.  I don't know about Edgium, I have Edge, build 18363, see:

It appears Edgium, is a "Microsoft Edge preview build". Thanks for warning us though!

Ii think you guys might have been living under a tech rock! It most definitely is NOT a preview!!!

Microsoft have had this in preview for at least 6 months, I was  released fully last week, just as they announced the retirement of IE and Windows 7. I can't quite believe you haven't seen this coming and have not been testing it.

I too have multiple browsers, plus beta and canary builds of most. IMHO, it should be your duty as a software house  to be aware of and to ensure that any major changes in third party offerings (and this is about as major as it gets) will work with your software.

Dear Chris,
You are laboring under a misconception, giving birth to a really ugly baby.
This is a USER FORUM, not a sneaky back door into the desktops of TechSmith's inner sanctum.
The people here are users, PowerUsers, or simply wannabes (that's me), trying to help out other users with some of the problems we all face in an imperfect world.
If you want to reach Tech Support at TechSmith, I suggest you open a ticket with Tech Support.
We are not them. You are screaming into a mirror. I hope it helps you, but it's not doing much for us.

In addition to what Muscle Whisperer said, it's worth noting that this forum is only RENTED by TechSmith. The owners of the forum software are a company named GetSatisfaction.

Seeing what I have, it seems a bit like screaming that the house you are renting is NOT an acceptable color. What's that got to do with me? Shouldn't the owner of the property be responsible?

You can download the stable version here
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge

The newest stable version is being rolled out to businesses and enterprise now.
The release to the public should start rolling out soon.

I can verify that you can not login to the forum with it yet and some other site still have issues with it yet.
I use Brave as my default browser so not reall a big deal to me.

Edge is just a "tester" browser on my computer.

Yes if you download you can install it.

Microsoft pushing it out in updates is happening for businesses and enterprise now.
It has yet to be pushed out to the public.

That should be coming soon.

I downloaded it and installed it yesterday so I could start to get a handle on it
and you know, check it out.

I have never really been a fan of microsoft browsers IE, or Edge but have them to test stuff
and try to keep up with the tech. :)

Point is, its Not a Beta build.

For 99% of us or more .You can download new versions of Windows 10 long before Microsoft will install them on your computer for you.

I use Firefox myself.

I've "Downloaded and Installed" the New Edgium Browser.

It's NOT a beta build.

Oddly enough I can log into my Getsatisfaction  account from this link. https://getsatisfaction.com/corp/

But I cannot log into the TechSmith forums.

Who's fault is it????
It may be a security setting in TechSmiths Getsatisfaction forums account.
Or it may be a Getsatisfaction issue.
Or a browser issue.

chris.swinney,

If you've visited this forum in the past. You're probably aware TechSmith jumps in and posts all the time.
From my standpoint, It's unfortunate how much flac has been posted/sent your way.

I wish I could help.

Thanks but I'm all set.
Heres whats occurred.
After logging into the GetSatisfactions main webpage.............https://getsatisfaction.com/corp/

A few hours later I could log into TechSmith Accounts.

SO you might want to investigate that strange chain of events?
I could log into other Getsatisfaction sights right away but not TechSmith.
Strange indeed.

I still can sign in only with Chrome or Firefox. The newest release of Edge is no different, for me, than the previous. I don't have any other browsers installed (Ed says he has five). When I try to sign in with my Techsmith credentials, there is a pop-up that appears with an animated gadget and it never goes away. I eventually close that pop-up. If I try to sign in with my GetSatisfaction credentials, I get a pop-up that says 'You have logged in successfully' when I have, in fact, not been as the 'Sign In' text is still displayed at the top of the window and I am unable to post or comment without receiving the 'Sign In' pop-up again. I attempted to post this comment originally in the new 'Edge' after attempting to sign in with my GetSatisfaction credentials with the above mentioned pop-up but it failed so used Chrome instead. Attached video clip is what I see with Techsmith credentials and images are with GetSatisfaction credentials. And, like Joe, I can log in to other GetSatisfaction websites (I have Quicken and Crimson Moon accounts as well) just fine.

After entering GetSatisfaction credentials.

After trying to reply or comment after receiving above pop-up.

"Ed says he has five" because  "I have five".  In top down order (all on this page):
Edge, IE, Brave, FF & Chrome. Brave is Chrome but no ads.

Why do browsers not use the title bar? (If I use IE or FF, I don't have to sign in

I didn't say you didn't have five. I was only referencing a quote. I guess that I actually have four as Internet Explorer is hiding on my PC (in Windows Accessories) as a legacy browser.

Hi All,

Well, apologies for causing such a fuss! FWIW, Whilst I might be under the misapprehension the Techsmith run this forum, I guess they have a vested interest in it behaviour, as should GetSatisfaction.

Ed, You are looking at the Beta channel for Edge in you post of https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/cannot-sign-into-the-the-forums-using-new-edge-chrom..., hence the name "beta" in the image you posted.

Chromium has three channels:
  • Stable (vNow)
  • Beta (vNext)
  • Canary (vNext + 1)
Browsers built on Chromium (including Chrome and Edge) will have these three builds as well.

You will note that the current version of Edgium is 79.x which is also the current version of Chrome.

Have you tried logging in Today?
I couldn't yesterday, yet today I've signed into the Forum and  ScreenCast as well.
Somethings changed, and I don't think its Edgium.

I must admit, I like this new browser. If I can get it set up as desired.I may use it more than FireFox very soon.

I'm responding to you using Edgium at the moment.
I suspect either TechSmith of Get Satisfaction was listening, and resolved the issue?

Welcome to the community.

Still broken here :(

I must admit though, I have been using Edgium on and off for over 6 months, and have switch lock stock and barrel since its full release. This is menaily due to a need to test browsers for our own software (caugh Techsmith, GetSatisfaction take note caugh). Previously I have been using CHrome as a main browser for many years although I was tempted to switch back to FF. I have been impressed so far and am (in general) happier with Edgium than Chrome!

Interesting ,have you tried logging into GetSatisfaction from this link?
https://getsatisfaction.com/corp/
Between the time I did and late last night, I gained access to this forum using Edgium.
This may have triggered a verification process that required some time to verify?
I also visited other getsatisfaction forums.
Considering the shear volume of information a browser must process, its a wonder they don't lock up on a regular basis.

Since I linked to this Forum from the GetSatisfaction site I am automatically logged in each time I visit. I have only one extension installed, see below. I haven't tried signing out and then signing back in again yet to see if that duplicates the issue. I'm going to post this and then I will try that. Update to follow.

Oddly enough, I can no longer log in using Edgium.
It started today, it might be the update that broke it?

I switched back to FireFox today. I was hoping it was a temporary glitch .Now, I'm not so optimistic.

I am able to log in even with Strict Tracking turned on and using uBlock Origin running.

The only thing I have done is to allow Get Satisfaction to place/keep cookies.

Add this to the Allow section in the Site permissions > Cookies and Site Data options.

[*.]getsatisfaction.com

Hopefully that helps you all log in.

Note: I also log in by way of the Google option.

Are you using Edgium?
Because it doesn't work for me.
I was able to add permissions to Getsatisfaction and Feedback Techsmith. Without using brackets, the star and a period in between them. When I tried that it threw up errors.

I've restarted the browser and it still doesn't work {:>(
It worked for the first few weeks.
Now I'm in the same boat as chris.swinney

Thanks for trying.

interesting, I have just use Edgium Canary build with no issue (v82, and just about to update again). I set this to also clear cache on shut down, so that might also be a thing.

With this browser it asked me firstly for my email address and password when I clicked on the Techsmith login, but the GA Edgium browser simply goes straight to speaker gif graphic thingy without prompting for user name or password.

ok, in Edgium GA (v80, current release) I navigated to "Settings -> Cookies and site data,) then searched for the "techsmith" and remove all cookies from "signin.techsmith.com". This then re-asked for my username/password, but still failed to log me in (speaker thingy again).

Cool @ chris.swinney

I can't comment back on the canary build. I wait till a stable build is released.
No time to mess with testing/playing with dev builds :)

@Joe Morgan

I think the error you got was because the second bracket for the wildcard [*.] was wrong
per your sceenshot.

I see I used the wrong bracket. But thats not it, it throws an error starting with the first bracket.

As you can see from my preivious image I have no problem adding exclusions.

I don't use a TechSmith account to log in. I use a get-satisfaction account. I can log into there main site, which is what I did to get access to TechSmiths end of the forum originally.

Whatever it is, I find it aggravating as I use the new browser more often than Firefox.

@robert, probably got lost in the avalanche of posts, but I did indeed try this. Unfortunately, it made no difference. Only adding the the getsatification.com domain to the allowed list for site cookie permissions (as outlined by @dubie) worked for me in Edge Chromium v80.

As also noted though, I made no such change on v82 of Edge which worked just fine.

I use a GetSatisfaction account,

In retrospect, I used this process the first time I gained access a few weeks ago.
"Also shown Above in another post"
The exact same process changed something.Allowing me to log In & Out at will after doing this.
There seems to be a common/hidden thread to my approach.

Thanks all for the responses! We're working to tweak some things for those not on the beta branch or looking to dig into the allowed list for cookies. Hopefully it gets cleared up soon so I'll update this thread when it's confirmed.
