Cannot capture in Windows 8.1 environment.

Cannot capture in Windows 8.1 environment. Running Snagit 12 (latest version). Works fine in the desktop view, but not in the metro programs. If I use a hotkey, it takes me out of the application to the desktop. My error? Or is this a known issue?

I am having the same sort of problem. When viewing a video there is no way that I can record it. Help please.

Hi Ed,

Yes, this is a known issue for Snagit and I'm sorry for the inconvenience. However, there is still a way to record metro programs: Switch to the desktop and start a video capture (either full screen or a region). Once the recording begins, you can switch back to the metro view and the section of the screen you selected for the video capture will be recorded. You can stop the capture via the hotkey or by switching back to the desktop and stopping it via the controls. Since you're using Snagit 12, you have the ability to trim the beginning and end of your video so you have a clean recording of the metro view.

Thanks for the quick reply, Austin. I mostly use SnagIt for screen capture (not video). I know you'll have the bug worked out in the next update! Love the product.

I have tried this but once the recording starts I am unable to switch back to the screen I want to record.

I still have a few days left on the trial so I will keep on trying.

I don't even get as far as that. As soon as I press record it crashes - every single time. As I have posted about this before quite some time ago without any response I am going to be looking for an alternate product. ...this after I have spent hundreds of Pounds purchasing this product and using it for years! Very disappointing.
