Can't record past intro clip

I've got AppShow beta Version 1.0 (103), I have been able to record an Intro segment, but then if I go to record another scene, it shows my actions in the preview area above, but after I click stop, I get a spinner in the scene section at the bottom that stays there forever.  At this point, I can't record or do anything in the app.  If I save the docuemnt, it only saves the Intro part and doesn't have the next scene at all.

I'm also getting regular prompts to connect my device even though it is connected, disconnecting and reconnecting don't help.  Note that QuickTime Player is able to record the device even when AppShow is in this state.

Hello - Sorry to hear you're running into problems. Would you be able to post a link where we could download your project file? We can take a look inside and see if there are clues as to what might be going on. If you prefer to email the link, we're at appshow@techsmith.com

Thanks!

On further reflection, I think you may be running into the issue where AppShow is waiting for something on the mobile device to move before it can complete the capture. If the content on the mobile device is static, the Mac stops collecting new frames of video. QuickTime actually has the same issue but it's just the duration timer that freezes so it's less noticeable.

Anyway...if this is indeed the issue, the solution (until we come up with a better one) is to swipe, tap, or otherwise create motion on the mobile device screen. That will let AppShow resume or finalize the recording.

Please let us know whether this helps, since it's certainly possible that something else is going on.

Hi, yes device motion does seem to be connected to this -- I get the connection picture of a cable, and it clears once I make the screen move on-device.

The issue of recording a scene after the intro is ongoing though -- it seems to be perturbed by device screen activity, but the app pretty much partially hangs during the scene recording -- after I hit stop, I get a spinner over the scene section and it often doesn't go away, and even if it does go away, that recording section is not saved.

I do think this may be related to device screen activity, sometimes the spinner clears after the device has a bunch of screen activity, but other times it just doesn't stop spinning.
