Can't start Snagit free trial for Mac

Mac OS X 10.13.6

After creating an account, signing in on the website, downloading the software, clicking the SignIn button on the modal, and signing in again to the website, I can't use the product.

Most of the options in the menu in the application are greyed out. If I close the modal (screenshot attached), the application closes. If I open the application again, I get the SignIn modal, which sends me back to the website to signin again.

It seems that the login information isn't being sent from the website to the application.

Thanks for any assistance that you can provide,
Alan

Hi,

After you sign into the browser, do you see a message prompting you to allow the browser to launch Snagit? What browser are you using?

Luke,

I'm using Chrome 72.0.3626.109 on Mac.

I get another modal asking about how I will be using the product, and then after answering that, I end up on a grey screen that only says: "You have been successfully signed in. You may now close this window."

I close that window, and then go find the running Snagit application, but it's still at the "SignIn" modal, like I never did anything on the web.

I just tried the signin link in Firefox, and I got a "Launch Application" modal after signing in on the web!. That didn't happen in Chrome.

Unfortunately after I choose the Snagit application and let it launch, I'm back at the "Try Snagit" free trial modal....so close!

Have you looked behind? Silly question so it sounds. However, since app sandboxing began, the macOS has this nasty habit of not always bringing message boxes to the front thus leaving the dialog box hidden behind another window. Try again but hide Chrome to see if there is a dialog box waiting for your reply. As I recall, this install does spark a dialog box. Just a suggestion.

SactoBob,

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it another try to see if anything is hidden.

It seems that the security settings on my corporate network are blocking the last step where the web browser attempts to launch the app. Tried it from outside the office, and it worked perfectly. I've got the trial running now.

Thanks!

Hi,

Chrome is tricky with these sign ins. If you accidentally deny with `remember this decision` selected, there's no way to ever get it to work again unless you reset Chrome. Safari and Firefox don't have this issue.
As for corporate settings, if that's something anyone else runs into and needs assistance with, you can always get in touch with our Tech Support folks and they should be able to help you out.
