Can't use Camtasia 3 files with version 2?

I tried to export a camtasia 3 file and open it with version 2 expecting maybe a warning that I was using an older version (when exporting it said it was "to share with other camtasia users) however, when I tried to open it on a computer with camtasia 2 it wouldn't open. Is this just to make you buy an upgrade? That's pretty poor.

It pretty standard with software that old versions can't read new file formats.

Maybe they should have had an option to export for v2, but if most of the user base just upgrade, then it would be a waste of time to build that feature.

Why are you going back to v2?

I had to edit externally on my computer so downloaded the newer version but wanted to be able to continue to edit and export on the computers at work with the older version. I know that it's a rare case but still frustrating!

Yes, sorry Alex, that is the case. That option is for packaging it up to use on another computer with the same (or later) version, or for using on another platform (use it on Windows). We have changed a lot in v3, and v2 would not know what to do with the new features stored in the file.
