I've been working on a sales video for weeks on Camtasia 7. I finished it today. Couldn't produce it. Showed just 0.0% all the time, so I intalled the 8.0 version to give it a go there.

The file can't be opened in 8.0 either. It says: "The project file cannot be opened. Make sure the selected file is a valid .camproj file", which it is.

The files just got a camtasia 8.0 thumbnail and it can't be opened in version 7 anymore either.

I haven't dared uninstalling 8.0 in fear that the files may be lost.

Do you see anything I don't see?

I downloaded Camtasia 8 5 days ago. I developed a Project and saved it. On trying to open it, I recieve the same error as above. I have done this twice and twice recieved the same error.

if a cs7 project fails in cs7, upgrading it to cs8 will not help; it may be corrupt

perhaps describe the project with specifics; when producing a large, very complex project, the production progress dialog can indicate 0% for a very long time [I've had cases where it took several hours to move off 0%; but production finished OK]

I would have to agree with what kayakman said. I have had some large projects that were large and I started rendering them and let the go all night and they were done when I got up the next morning. So what kayakman is saying I can relate to. More information is helpful though.

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles. I'd like to encourage you to open a case with Tech Support. You can attach the zipped project to the case and this will help them examine it. http://techsmith.custhelp.com/app/uti...

I apologize for the frustration.

Thanks to all of you guys. Those answers about the rendering was very helpful. I can see that it's now rendering. I went to another computer with Camtasia 7.1 and took the edit over to a memory stick and it's all fine.

I still don't know the solution to the problem stated in the headline. It's fine with me for now, but hopefully someone in the future can find the solution.
