If I add a callout box, and then add a small line object for example, and place it inside the callout box. I am unable to select the line again without moving the Callout box out of the way. Even if I do "Send to back" on the Callout box, I'm still not able to select the line object without moving the callout box out of the way first.

I use callout boxes a lot because they are the only way i can rotate a box on an image. Thanks for any help or tips.

Hi Mark,

I can replicate this. I'll make a video of this behavior and send it to the development team.

In the meantime, I can offer a few workarounds.

1.) Tip: If you old Alt, you can draw over non-flatted objects. This may allow you to draw your line over the callout, so perhaps you can position it in the right place the first try and not need to move it.

2.) I found that if I right clicked the line, very precisely, the line would be selected and then I could move it.

3.) Assuming you're done with the background callout, you could right click the callout and then flatten it. Then it's easy to move the line.

Sorry for the trouble. We'll look into it and thanks for reporting this. I'm going to re-categorize this as a problem.

Sincerely,
Mike Curtis

Awesome Curtis! You're right, if i very precisely hold the mouse over a line object that is inside the callout box, I can select it. I didn't notice that. That helps a great deal. Also, I didn't know about the Alt key for adding an item on top of another item. Again, thanks!! I guess the only thing is that if the preciseness didn't have to be as preceise it would help, but I can see that zooming in seems to help a little too. SnagIt ROCKS!!

Oh, one other thing. Sometimes when i'm trying to hold the mouse over an item to select it, the Text options popup gets in the way (such as when the item is in a callout box or near a text object). Is there a key combination that will keep text options popup from appearing in cases like that?

Curtis. Nevermind that last question. I see that if I deselect everything, the text options do not popup. Only if I have a text object selected and then try to select something else, does it get in the way. thanks again.
