Caption position in SnagIt

I would like TechSmith to restore the previous capability in SnagIt that allowed users the option to place the caption above or below the image. I still use the old version that allowed this and am not likely to upgrade unless this function is restored.

I can place a caption wherever I want in the snagit editor.. Perhaps I am not understanding what you are trying to do.

I suspect wflower is referring to captioning an image with certain attributes at the time of capture. Likely within a preset?

Cheers... Rick :)

SnagIt 12 was the last version to offer Captions. It saves slightly different information but it was more customizable.

Now there's Capture Info,  it gets placed where SnagIt places it.

Joe, Thanks for replying.  What version of Snagit is being used in the image at the beginning of your reply?  It looks like that would work for me.  You say it gets placed where Snagit places it, but your image shows a choice of above or below.  Can you please clarify?  I don't care whether it's called caption or capture info!  What I want is to be able to create a preset that simply (without a trip to the editor) sends the capture to Word with the date and time above the image.  I've been doing that since about 2007 and it is an integral part of my workflow for practically everything I do.  In January 2017 I was using v 3.0.3 and doing it successfully.  I updated to v3.1 and couldn't do it.  I wrote to TechSmith and the tech said that had been dropped, so I reverted to 3.0.3, which is what I am currently running. Maybe it didn't occur to the tech to tell me to look for it in another place.  Any help will be appreciated.

That's Windows Version 12, it was dropped for windows users about 2 years ago. That was a screen shot for demonstration purposes.
Newer versions don't have it. They have Capture Info now,  that is placed at the bottom of the image and you have no control over it.

Correction, my January 2017 work was v 13.0.3 and 13.1 (13 not 3).  Sorry.  BTW, v13.0.3 calls it Caption.  It's the middle selection under Preset.

Thanks again, Joe.  Not the answer I was hoping for, but nice to know the facts.

Smart move will let you grab the caption and move it to the top of the image
