Capture OneClick and Manage Presets - Selected Preset is not obvious

  • When you hover over the OneClick, you cannot tell what the currently selected preset is.
  • When you open "Manage Presets", you cannot tell what the currently selected preset is.
Can someone enhance the product to make this more intuitive?

Hi there

Totally agree that this would be nice. It also exemplifies how configuring shortcuts for the desired presets is helpful. ;)

Cheers... Rick :)

Someone correct me if I am not getting it as times have changed. It seems to me that in 2018 the one click button / Print screen remembers the past preset you selected and not the last one you sued (with a hot key for instance)
An info tag on hovering would be a nice idea

It remembers, but you also have to remember because it doesn't keep that preset highlighted as currently selected preset. I used like 4 different presets, and it seems like it is always the wrong one.

If you are using the fly out One-Click (not the Capture Window) button (the big red one) it does not use any presets. It's non-configurable. If doing a capture with the Capture Window red button,  that's a different story.

The button in the Capture Window will make a capture using what ever settings are in the fields whether they where filled by clicking a preset or manually filled and those fields remain until changed or cleared.

To do a default One-Click in the Capture Window you have to click the All-in-One tab or clear the fields, then click the red button.

If you want to do a capture with a preset from the Capture Windows,  click the preset to fill the fields or manually fill the fields and then click the red button.

Note: when you open the Capture Window later the fields will still be filled from the last time so you need to click a preset to change those field to something different or clear/reset them.

From the fly-out One-Click it's different.

The red button will do the default All-In One capture (no preset applied) You can not configure it.

The power of presets from the fly-out is it lets you make a configured capture with one click by just clicking on the preset name.
All the reason to make descriptive names for the preset.

When you click a preset using the fly-out it does not fill the red button fields as it does using the Capture Window to make a capture. So knowing what preset you want to use should not be a problem if your preset names are descriptive.

A Test.

Open the Capture Window and make sure the fields are cleared.
Close the window.

Now make a capture from the fly-out with a preset.

Reopen the Capture Window and the fields should still be cleared.

Point is...
The One-Click fly-out and the Capture Window work differently.

The fly-out red button doesn't care whats in the fields,  it does the default All-in-One capture.
Using the Capture Window red button to make captures uses whats in the fields.

I do agree that having a more descriptive hover tag would be helpful. Like seeing if there is a hotkey assigned or the settings for the preset.

Workflow example:
  • Normally I use "all in one to clipboard".
  • Randomly in the day there is a need to use "Grab Text".
  • If you go a few hours and forget you used Grab Text, there is no feedback to tell you what you current preset is.
I think that is basically the ultimate problem.

That's why making presets with descriptive names and clicking them from the Fly-Out means you don't have to remember what preset you used last.
