Capture region frame is gone

I recently updated to Camtasia v2.9.2 (Mac/Yosemite) and now the capture region frame disappears as soon as the recording countdown finishes.  I need the frame since during a typical capture session I'm opening and closing windows and need to position them properly.  Just capturing the whole screen is an inefficient use of file size limitations.  How can I make the capture frame (boundary) stay visible throughout the recording session?

Same here. This is real bad for work flow.

The work-around-now is to create a desk top image with a box in the center. Set that image to desktop image and record within it. Man, this stinks.

Ditto.  I'm having the same issue with Camtasia for Mac.  Most recent version update seems to have removed these features.  I need the frame so much I am considering a different screen capture product when Camtasia used to be my go to.

Hi,

I have just spoken with our Technical Support team to determine if this is a bug you have found. And, it is - it is not a feature nor have we removed that functionality.

They are recommending you go back to version 2.9.1 since a fix for this will not be coming out for a little while (I don't know when).

I apologize for this inconvenience and for the bug. I can certainly understand how difficult it is to record without the frame to let you know where your recording is on the screen.

If you should need help uninstalling and reinstalling version 2.9.1. You can get that download here:

If you have any other questions or need more help, please contact our Technical Support team.
Our Technical Support is free and they get back with you quite quickly - usually within one day.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled where did the flashing recording border go for Camtasia for Mac?.

In prior versions a very helpful border would flash around your custom recording area.   Now it no longer appears. It makes it very hard to tell what's in the area.  Can this be re-enabled? Where did it go?

This is for camtasia for mac

thanks!

I went back to 2.9.1 and it's working.

Wrote support and received download links to older versions.

I almost bought a copy of screenflow which would have not been a big deal other than one more learning curve to deal with.

TechSmith got back to me fast which I appreciated.

Using the recommendation to go back to version 2.9.1, I was able to locate a local copy of that version in an old time machine backup.  I uninstalled/reinstalled and all is good now.  Thank you!
