Capture when mouse is released?

Hi folks!

Just installed SnagIt on a new laptop, and can't find the setting that controls capturing without clicking. I want it to automatically take a capture of the selected area once the mouse button is released. The default is that it highlights the area and I have to click to capture and copy to editor.

I know it's simple - can someone help me out??

Thanks!

  1. Go to MANAGE PROFILES either under the red button at the top or via the tray icon
  2. Pick IMAGE (not all-in one)
  3. Change the settings for what you want (I have one that just goes to the clipboard and another that scales each capture to 500 px tall - set an effect or just leave it as none.
  4. On the right, check whether you a\want it to go to the editor (bug: that is going to the editor whether you check it or not) or just the clipboard
  5. When you have it the way you want it press the + sign next to presets and save it as a new preset
When it appears you can rename it via the gear icon on it's right side and add a keyboard shortcut
There are a lot of options so you may have to do this a couple of times to get it where you want it but then you can hit the hot key, drag, release and it will process as you wanted

Hey Rick!

Thanks for your help! That doesn't change how the capture happens, though I might be missing something. I posted a screenshot of how the profile is set up. I still have to click the camera button to capture, and I'd like that to happen automatically when I release the mouse button.

Thanks!

Change the All in One to Image and you will bypass having to make a choice

I take that back - I was using Print Screen, which was still hooked to the Global Capture profile. I updated the hotkeys and it works! Thanks Rick!!
