Capture Profiles for Mac would Sure be Nice!

I would like the Mac version of Snagit to let me create a capture profile that will save an image to a location without showing me a preview like the Win version will do. Essentially, I want to be able to set up capture profiles the same way I can in the Windows version. Love the product. Keep up the great work!

I would like to see the Profiles functionality added to the MAC version of snag-it ASAP. Thanks.

I've been a SnagIt user for as long as I can remember and was happy with this release for the Mac that finally seems to catch up somewhat to what is on the PC platform. What I can't seem to find is the ability to set default screen capture settings based on a saved custom format that I design. As a person who must constantly share page shots, this is critical and what I still rely on for the PC side of things. Where are My Profiles on the Mac? We need them.

Requesting Profiles for Mac.

The lack of this functionality is extremely painful. Not only are there no profiles, but snagit doesn't 'remember' my style settings from one screengrab to the next (keeps resetting the border to 0px, for example).

I see many references to this topic in previous posts, but nothing in the last several months.

Any news on this request?

Thanks!

Wow, that was a fast merge into a 2-year old topic, with no apparent additional follow up. My takeaway from this is that the feature request is never happening.

+1 - profiles, or any form of auto processing, for Mac SnagIt would really make us more productive.

I just started using Snagit 3.2.3 on my Mac, and I completely agree that it's disappointing that it doesn't have capture profiles like the PC version. It would be great to see that feature on the Mac version.

Nothing new here...definitely would love to see capture profiles on the Mac side. Getting the batch export added was a step in the right direction. Let's go one more.

I'd like to add my vote for capture profiles. I recently migrated from Windows and used them regularly there. My #1 wish list item.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Capture types, include delayed.

I would find it very helpful to have a "Delayed Image Capture" as a choice in the "More Capture Types" window.  I find I toggle back and forth between needing to delay the capture, and find it frustrating to have to wait the 3 - 5 seconds to take a capture when I don't need to.   See image for the menu I'm referencing.

Hi Gregory!

I can see why this would be frustrating. :( On the Windows version of Snagit - which I know, does not help you right now - we have capture profiles that can be set up. This would mean you could save several different types of captures with the settings you prefer, and assign a hotkey or shortcut to launch the one you want.

I merged your request into this existing thread. If this would be useful to you, could you please take a moment to +1 or like the idea? We keep an eye on this community to identify requests for consideration in future versions of the product.

Thanks again for your feedback and please let us know if we can help with anything.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Why snagproj?.

Why can't Snagit save images in a standard format (jpg, png) where I want on my hard drive instead of a useless .snagproj file?

I need to open the Editor everytime I make a capture. And I need to drag and drop pictures one by one...

The capture system of Snagit is amazing, but having to use the Editor makes it much quicker and simple to use the system capture: a keyboard shortcut (Command-Shift-4) and a jpg capture is on my desktop...

The snag. file format is NOT useless - Many people need to take a single capture and create multiple outputs to a single image. For example Techsmith's Kelly Mullins has excellent tutorials on how to create collages from multiple images to create Christmas catds, maps, etc,

I don't know why you can't. I save Snagit snapshots in .png format all the time. All you do is go into preference and set to desired Format.

Profiles is a lot more than just the output format. Profiles allow that as well as the automatic application of other effects, etc.

+1 for profiles in Mac.  I really need a way to automate the applying of effects to a captured image.

Another vote for profiles for the Mac version. I mean, all I want to do is hit a hotkey (or click the red button), select a window, and have it copy to the clipboard. Is that asking too much?

Just moved to a mac and it's painful that I cannot create a profile. I spend the day taking images for use in publishing to customers and have standards I must follow, for example a 2pt black border. I have to manually add the border and other effects every time I take an image. Unbearable!!!

Hi Sandra;

In Snagit 4, the latest version available for Mac, you can indeed save capture profiles (though we renamed them to being presets). When you open the Snagit capture interface, click on the small "+" next to the "Presets" item to create a new preset.

See below, or click here to see our tutorial on saving capture settings:

Hope that helps!
