Change camera footage during recording

Hey all,

I'm using Camtasia 3 for Mac and recording a ppt for a webinar/screencast, with the computers camera recording me as I present the lecture.

My question is, sometimes I want the video to be of just the powerpoint slides, other times just me (expanded to be full screen) and other times a small camera window within the ppt.

I can see the small window in the ppt option and is OK, I just dont know how to have one or the other that easily done.

Suggestions?

Cheers

Carlo

You might find it convenient to use the "animations" tab, where you can make your movie "tilt left" or "tilt right", to get them side by side. Or, you can use "scale to fit" to make one of your videos fill up the whole canvas. In this way, you can grow/shrink/move/etc the two videos to decide how much space they take up.

Hope that makes sense.

You can just cut the footage in half where the change is needed and then resize or delete the stuff after. You can use the scissors tool at the bottom left of your Camtasia

Thanks - can camtasia create a split screen with powerpoint on one side and a video of me giving the presentation on the other side? Rather than a small window within the full screen, can we divide the screen?

cheers

Hmmm, what I see looks like a web page. Perhaps a frameset. But, even so, you could accomplish a similar look using Camtasia. I say "similar look" because you would not be able to use Camtasia to output something that had individual playback controls for the video in the corner. What Camtasia will do is create just a single video that would incorporate all elements.

Thx Rick - this platform allows what I'm after https://www.panopto.com/features/video-recording/screen-recording/

I dont mind having the elements seperate (video and screen recording) and adding them in. I just would like the screen to be partitioned off as above and allow a footer/header.

Possible?

That's definitely possible; have you tried to do this yet? Just move and drag around the two videos on the canvas to position them the way you like. Same for your header graphic.

Thanks Paul, it doesn't seem as easier as that with my experience. Is there an instructional video somewhere showing this?

Cheers

Carlo,

Add a video to the timeline. On the canvas, drag a corner to make it small. Add another video to the timeline. On the canvas, drag a corner to make it small. Now drag the two videos to different places on the canvas. You can even put one in front of the other.
