Change hotkeys from shift + PF9 & shift + PF10 to ctrl + PF9 & Ctrl + P10 as the shift + function key disables a function in another system I use more frequently.

While I agree that changing the preferences rectifies this problem, I've "Me Too-ed" this. I've said in the past that Techsmith needs to get its hands off Shift F9 as the default. If I had a buck for every time someone has come to me and said "Excel isn't working, can you take a look at it for me?" I'd be long since retired, and rather comfortably as well.

I'm going to make an .mp3 of me saying "Have you recently installed Snagit?" to save my vocal cords.

I must be missing something here.

If it doesn’t work right change it to something else.

I don’t see the problem?

You're working in Excel.

Shift + F9 stops working. As in, you press it, and nothing happens. That's it, that's all the feedback you get.

Nothing. Happens.

If you are not a Snagit power user, do YOU associate the problem with Snagit? Why would you? Snagit may be a useful utility at times, but it's a sideshow. It's a little tool that you use occasionally.

Excel, you make your living out of.

You're not even thinking about Snagit.

All you know is that the command to recalculate the sheet is no longer functioning and you have no visual clue why.

The reason why is that Snagit has hijacked the relevant command key.

There isn't a problem if, and only if, you know what is causing the problem and how to fix it.

And THAT is why second string products should not help themselves to common keyboard shortcuts used by the big boys.

I would change it if I knew how. That's what I'm asking. I'm not a tech guru, I want steps :-)

@Tania
If you would have said so way back when it wouldn't have took nearly this long to get here.

Glad you figured it out.   Whew!

@JasonS; to be fair, Tania may not have even been aware that the icon is supposed to be in the system tray. The system tray can be locked down by a Group Policy, and some IT departments do that. (Personally I don't see the point but "Sekuritee" is a Majik word, and cannot be questioned by mere mortals.)

If she can't see the Snagit icon in the system tray I'd bet that that's the reason, and it's hard to know what you're missing if it's something that you've never had.
