Change in Selection from 8 to 9 Camtasia

I just moved from Camtasia 8.6 to 9.0 and noted a change in the behavior of selection on the timeline. In 8.6 I used shift + right/left arrow to both make and increase/decrease selection. In 9, I am now unable to decrease size of selection from Keyboard with the move to "<>" keys for increment motion on the timeline. I now can only increase the selection. Decrease is done through a mouse which is not accurate enough. I want to reduce the right side of a selection with a keystroke as was the case in 8.6. Can this be done by a setting?

can't be done by a setting

best workaround is to make initial selection under size, then work up to your target using the <> keys; not a user friendly behavior

re the mouse selections, do a max zoom in [ctl-shift-9] and a 1 frame change with mouse is doable

Thanks for the zoom idea but luckily we still have 8.6 so can retreat back to that  version. That is just too annoying to deal with and slows me done too much. Bummer of a regression...

there is another technique I forgot to mention ... use markers; place a marker at the start location, move playhead [however works best] to the exact end location; use ctl-shift-[ to select between the two markers; then ctl-X to make the cut; you'll be left with the end marker, select it and delete
