changing from w7 to w10

I have an older version of Camtasia, Last week I changed computers from W7 Pro 64bit to W10 PRO 64bit. I wasn't able to transfer the programme from my old PC to my new PC, but used the original disc from when I first bought the programme. When I open the programme, I can record the screen but get an error message from Windows saying I didn't close the programme correctly. The file appears in the Camtasia editing screen as a thumb nail top right, but I can't edit or produce a file?

If your using Camtasia 7.
Forget about it. You won't get it to work properly. Camtasia 7 started malfunctioning on Windows 8 if I'm not mistaken.I only used Win 8 for a few months and had already upgraded.
I've tried to use Camtasia 7 on win 8 I'm sure. It definitely won't work properly win 10.Theres several errors, can't save narrations in the editor among other things.
Windows Compatibility Mode won't/can't save you.
Sorry about that, it's upgrade or move on to another program.

Regards,Joe

As you may know, Camtasia 7 is an unsupported version of Camtasia. Therefore tech support won't help you.
In fairness and in light of that. I installed Camtasia Studio 7.1.1 as a test.

The audio meter tends to be stuck on the recorder.Even without audio playing.I remember this error well.

However, I was able to save a recording. I couldn't save a narration.

So, you kind of on your own really. Camtasia 7 is buggy on Win 10 any way you slice it. It shouldn't be "In my opinion". But it is what it is. Your move.
