Check for updates fails if behind a proxy firewall

The "Check for Updates" feature does not work if you are behind a proxy based firewall (corporate). If I am on my home network, it works.  I was given a workaround to get it to work on my corporate network, per previous request (ticket) #531162, which is to delete a portion of the Windows Registry for SnagIt.  Very clumsy and unnecessary work.  While the workaround works, please fix it so I don't have to do this.

Thank you.

Can you contact your IT department and make a request to add the program to their whitelist?

That is extremely unlikely due to the size and international nature of our company.  I recommend simply updating the SnagIt to use the standard proxy/firewall settings in Windows.  If you do that, authentication will be automatic.  Many other products already do this.

Doesn't hurt to ask. I worked for a large international organization and my local IT department had no problem providing the software for my use and allowing updates when necessary. At the local division, I was tasked with auditing asbestos in the plant which required that I take photos, annotate them and report to management. SnagIt was the easiest to use for this. It was because of this that I purchased for myself for home use. When I was working, we had Version 9 to start and when I retired two years ago we were using Version 10. I have a maintenance agreement for my home use and always have the latest version.
