Clip speed option makes playback un-viewable

I am using the clip speed option and increasing segments of my video by 3x

When doing this I obviously want to play it back to watch and it becomes so jumpy that it doesn't even work. My PC fan really kicks up during playback and leads me to believe I am running into a hardware limitation or buffering issue??

I am looking for any pro tips that may help me watch the playback to see if it's what I want.
Some thing's I have tried to do...

  1. Save the project and re-open it
  2. Add more video to the end... so the piece I am looing at is sandwiched between 2 segments (seems to work a bit)
  3. Produce the video and watch the MP4  (works great but very timely)

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Does the playback look ok when rendered/produced?

Playback smoothness in editing can be effected for many reasons.

Amount of elements and/or animations.
File sizes (imported images.
Your machine specs.
Just to name a few.

Not really a solution but maybe a little bit of a time saver (you may already know this)  is to make a selection of  the section of concern and do a "Produce selection as"

You don't have to produce the whole video then. Just that piece to check it.

"Produce Selection as"
I think this may do the trick!
