Color Swatches

  • Under Consideration
When SnagIt 13 arrived, the color palette changed. The colors offered now seem somewhat "muted". For example, compare the two palettes below.

I've saved the old presentation as a Stamp so that I can easily drop it onto whatever image I'm working on and easily choose the color via the eyedropper. But it occurred to me that this could all be easily avoided if a provision were there to either allow us to add colors we regularly use, or perhaps add a swatch where we could then use the eyedropper.

Similar perhaps to what PowerPoint offers. Where "Recent Colors" are listed.

Cheers... Rick :)

Count me in on this one! Having user-specified swatches would help with project work. Add another coolness factor by allowing users to save named swatch sets so we can switch between projects easily.

Great idea, Rick!

+1  We see what will be.
++Buttons Copy/Paste "Color code"
I for one am disappointed by Techsmith - They are very inflexible.

12 colors they believe are sufficient.
It is sufficient after you? "Techsmith"

They want to set their own colors:
I can not set so many colors.
There are too many.

I need color palette fixed colors.
Color palette hexagon.
For quick access color.

Many useful things from version 12 - disappeared in version 13
I don't understand why?
Where the evolution in version 13?

I wrote myself here no response.
"Color palette hexagon."

We're actively working on a solution here. No estimated date for shipping it out. But we should have some solution to this in the future. I'll update you all when that happens. :)

Yep, I invited you a couple weeks ago to check out a beta or screen share with some of this functionality in it. I can resend the email. We definitely respect your opinion.

Alright, the invite is always there. Like we've mentioned before, we'll respond as much as we can here around ideas and be more transparent. But most of our effort goes toward iteration on designing solutions to these problems is in our betas, small user group discussions, and our user testing. GetSat is a great place to gather information on how many people are experiencing problems and to point us in the right direction for what to focus on. And that's how we've been using it. If anyone would like to communicate around specific ideas and designs more deeply, feel free to contact me and we can set something up: c.larson@techsmith.com

I agree, bring back the old palette and functionality. Version 13 sucks.

Yes, please. I love that Snagit allows you to define custom colors by clicking on an external color (the eyedropper tool) and add to quick styles. It would be really nice if there was a way to add custom colors to be used globally. That way, I can see my custom colors any time a color palette is launched in the app, rather than having to use the eyedropper tool when I change annotation types (steps, shapes, text, etc). This would allow me to easily apply my company's branded colors.

Thanks!
