Continuously update clipboard when using Snagit editor

Whenever I use the Snagit editor, the final step is always to click the Copy All button to copy the image to the clipboard. I would rather that the clipboard were continually updated.

This would always save at least one click on every edit. It would often save further frustration because many times I click the Copy All button, only to find when I paste the image that the click did not register and I have an old version of the image on the clipboard.

Perhaps not everyone would want to work this way, so it could be available as an option to those who do.

+100 from me

I raised this as an idea a couple of years ago but it didn't gain enough votes to make it into the roundup process.

Let's hope you do better than I did.  it's a no-brainer.  The number of times I have pasted an image, only to realise it's the wrong version...... :(

By all means, make it an option, but TBH with the power of PCs today it would make no noticeable difference to anyone.

That is a brilliant suggestion and thanks also for telling us about 'Copy All' as I did not realise that this facility existed as I always looked in save or save as and it never had 'save to the clipboard on it so now thanks to you I have found this facility in 'Edit'.  Many thanks.

It's not a feature I would use.

Windows Snip and Sketch has this feature.
I know if you use the newer SnagIt feature "Open screenshots copied from system tools". And draw or use Windows Snip tools in it's application. You'll end up with a lot of images in the SnagIt editor.Because every edit updates the clipboard, triggering a new SnagIt image/capture.

Programs share the clipboard. If I have some text on my clipboard that I intend on using in Camtasia, Photoshop, or some other application. Then determined I needed grab a screen shot. I don't want SnagIt over writing the clipboard.

Being able to disable this feature is critical.I want nothing to do with it!

So, that being said. I'll vote for it. I realize it could be helpful for others.

Oh but you can.

You just click on the history link and it will popup a preview image or the related info of a text or url.

Thanks @Dubie.

I use phraseexpress (clipboard manager) extensively however I might can see a use for this as well but I  have a feeling I  can’t use them simultaneously because of conflicts with the clipboard.

Yeah, unfortunately the paid version is required for preview image and most functionality.
It's only $20, but I don't believe I need the tool at this time.

With full version of Clipdiary you will get the following advantages:
  • Incremental search.
  • MultiPasting - support for pasting of several clips. Just press Enter or F6 for advanced options.
  • Support for copying of several clips back into clipboard.
  • Export wizard - now you can save several clips in file(s).
  • Function for preview images (F8).
  • Export images from clipboard history to file (supports bmp, jpg, png and xpm formats).
  • Highlighting of pasted clips.
  • Hot Keys filter tab in the Options - list of programs where Clipdiary should ignore its hot key pressing (useful for gamers:))
  • Function for searching text of the clip in the web browser (Alt+G).
  • Advanced options for incremental search.
  • Option to automatically show tooltip when main window is opened.
  • Option to choose the default action for the Enter key and double click (either copy or paste)
  • Advanced options - Always move focus to newly captured clip.
  • New features and bug fixes in future versions of programm.

Oh well,  I didn't use it before today, won't use it tomorrow.

I posted a video link below if anyone is interested in using Clipdiary.

I liked the idea of a clipboard manager, I never took them seriously or gave them that much thought.

I looked around and found one called ClipClip. Its FREE and was rated number 1 out of 10 in this 2019 review of clipboard managers.
https://www.windowschimp.com/best-clipboard-managers/

I downloaded and installed it.It has some features that will come in handy. Its not as full featured as other managers.
But you can preview images copied to the clipboard by hovering over an eyeball and getting a very large thumbnail view. Or click it for a Viewer window.

For what its worth.

Ok so I messed up with using Clipdiary and having the functions I posted about.

It was quite awhile ago I installed it and forgot to mention getting a key.

You have to download the full version and you can then get a personal use key (legit) to unlock the functions.

Here is a video how to unlock Clipdiary for those interested.

Sorry for the mistake :(  My Bad.
