This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: I would like Camtasia Studio to be able to import MTS Files (AVCHD)

Hi guys, my web developer wants me to use Camtasia, but my Sony Handycam creates AVCHD (,MTS) files. From reading posts here I know Camtasia does not accept those files. Do you know if "the WonderShare" " "Video Converter Ultimate" will produce files that Camtasia will accept? The progrom comes Highly recommended by CNET = http://download.cnet.com/Wondershare-...

I am on the Camtasia trial and really like it, but wondered if the files converted by Wonder Share are known to work for you?

Hello. I have no experience with the "WonderShare", so I can't say whether that would produce compatible videos or not.

I do know that we get this question often, and our support site has an article with some recommended conversion utilities. Here's the link: http://techsmith.custhelp.com/app/ans...

Hope this helps.

I want to share a solution to convert AVCHD to Camtasia supported formats at: http://www.faasoft.com/articles/avchd-to-mp4.html

This way supports converting AVCHD files recorded by Panasonic, Sony, Cannon or other camcorders to MP4 format without quality loss. And it also supports to convert AVCHD to to AVI, AVCHD to MOV, AVCHD to WMV, AVCHD to ASF, AVCHD to FLV, AVCHD to WebM, AVCHD to OGV, etc.

So you can play AVCHD anywhere like iTunes, iPhone, iPad, iPod, QuickTime, iMovie, Android, PS3, etc.

Just give it a try.

The converter you recommend is a shareware, you have to pay for it to get the full version, or else there will be a big watermark in the converted video. Actually, there are many online apps can do the video conversion for your, such as zamzar, Acethinker Video Converter, mediaconverter, etc. They are totally free, and you don't have to download or install anything.

Hi!

Has there been an update to this? I haven't been happy with the workaround of recording the playback.

Thanks,

Jackie

Hi Jackie, there's a more thorough thread on this over here and I know it's something we're looking at supporting better in a future version: http://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmi...

I'll merge this thread into that one.

AVCHD camcorders use the MPEG-4, AVC/H.264 standard. Hence, many video converters can do the avchd to mp4 conversion. I am using HD video converter factory pro, only 3 steps can finish the conversion. Did anyone try this tool?
