Copying callout modifies source .snag file

Copying a callout from one .snag file to another in Snagit 13 modifies the source .snag file, so I have to add an additional step to my process, even though I didn't modify anything in the source file, I just selected the callout, copied it and pasted in another .snag file the editor marks the file from where I copied the callout as if I had modified it

Try to catch me up here please.

What harm is done by that? It's still an editable .snag file is it not?

Hi, I usually end doing this activity 20 to 30 times a day at different hours, editing charts mainly but copying a template callout from past charts. Lets say that I do it at least 5 days a week, its 100 to 150 times, during 52 weeks is 5,200 times I'll end saving a .snag file that I really didn 't modify, just copied an element out of it. I'm new to snagit so I'm not sure if there is a way around this

I didn't even think about the editor pop up asking you if you want to save your changes. That can be a progress killer for sure.

If the template callouts are generated by SnagIt you could Right Click one of them and select "Add to Quick Styles".
That saves it as selectable Callout in the Callout menu. That way you could just add it as a new editable callout without searching for a match elsewhere.
If you need to save a lot of similar looking callouts, that could be a little confusing because similar  callouts look very much alike in the quick style menu. You can arrange them by dragging the Icon in the quick style menu but you cannot name them. That's a feature quick-styles doesn't have.

There may be a better way to go about it.Someone else may post a better technique but if not you can always run this by tech support and see what they have to say about it.They  know more about the program than anyone else.

Hello,

Thank you for this information. I have spoken with my senior adviser and this is a logged bug with Snagit 13. We are looking into a fix, and should be resolved in a future update.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
