Hi Snagit. There is a really annoying bug regarding copy and paste. When i capture screen shot and then go to tthe editor and press Ctrl-C. It dos'nt seem to copy to the clipboard. It seems to require multiple Ctrl-C presses to copy the image to the clip board. I am using Windows 10e

You don't need to do that at all if you set the capture preferences to automatically copy the capture to the clipboard. Try doing that and see if that works for you.

Or, in case i have misunderstood you (and reading your post again, perhaps I have) you are missing a step.  When you go to the editor and want to copy to clipboard you have select everything first (Ctrl + A) then do Ctrl + C.  But you don't even have to do THAT, because TechSmith have very kindly put a "Copy All" command up in the top right corner, which does both actions in one mouse click.

Hi Paul. Thank you for the Reply.
I generally preview in the editor, as sometimes i want to add callouts,  arrows etc. Yes the Copy all button works fine but this is time consuming compared when used to using keyboard short cuts. The problem i have is the main windows short cut Ctrl-C is very intermittent. To replicate maybe try this: (with copy to clipboard off)
  1. Copy some random text to clipboard maybe form word excel or what ever
  2. Then PrtScrn to take a screen grab: editor opens up and press Ctrl-C
  3. Then go to the app where you want to paste: Ctrl V. 90% of the time it has not copied the image from the editor and instead pastes the text that is in the clipboard
I have to say now that i have selected the copy to clipboard option you mention. It does seem to copy first time form the editor even after adding say an arrow etc, Just different behavior from previous versions (an di have been using snagit for a long time)

Hey thanks for your support. It is now working as i would expect just needs the copy clipboard option ticked

Glad it's working for you now.  On a related note, I made a suggestion a few months ago that it would also be helpful if the clipboard was updated after each edit so that whenever you decide you're done editing, you can immediately paste the results into your document,

For what it's worth, I came into the support community all fired up and itching to complain about the big problem I was having with the Ctrl-A/Ctrl-C method that seemed to be ruined in 2018. For years I have been doing this. It has been the fastest and most convenient way to get a screen capture, annotate it, and then paste the combined image into another app, and for this reason alone why I love Snagit, regardless of what interface permutations it goes thru.  I rarely if ever save as jpg, pdf, etc. (Facebook for desktop browsers is the one supremely annoying exception - will they for heaven's sake let us paste an image directly into a post!!!)

In v2018, if I use Ctrl-A, there is a bug (or as near as I can tell, it's a bug), that pops up the formatting options bar for the last object created, which completely ruins the selection I want to copy/paste.

As Paul has pointed out, apparently Techsmith has figured out that Ctrl-A/Ctrl-C is an extra step, and if you merely use Ctrl-C, "All" is assumed. If that's the case, it's actually a timesaver! I am still trying this out to see if it is consistent, but I can say I have not experienced the situation described by the OP.
