Crashy program with inadequate recovery

Here's an idea. Let's make this program less crashy. I've been buying Camtasia for many years now, have used it on many releases of Windows, now of course Win10 creators, and it is easily the crashiest program on my computer. Once again just now I recorded a desktop session and then before I rendered, I unplugged my USB headset. I know from experience that Camtasia crashes when one does this but for some reason I thought it might have been fixed by now. In any case... freeze, close, open, nothing.

Idea 1: The program should be able to handle switching/removing USB audio devices without crashing. All other audio programs I use can handle that.

Idea 2: When I start up Camtasia again, it should detect the interrupted session and offer to open the last file. Again, other programs seem able to do this sort of this and it's very useful.

I'm off to look for the files now. Just wanted to stop by here and provide the feedback. Not looking for assistance.

Thanks
Rob

Hi Rob;

Thank you for stopping by to provide your feedback. Given that these Ideas are already a part of Camtasia, I will be switching this post from Idea to Problem.

Regarding Point #1: I am able to unplug my SteelSeries USB headset while Camtasia 9's Studio is open and I am actively editing a project. This should be the expected behavior. Where it might be a problem is in the Recorder; if you are actively recording a device, and you remove that device, there will be erratic behavior.

Regarding Point #2: This should happen; if you are working in the Studio on a project and Camtasia crashes or closes unexpectedly, you should be prompted to recover it. See below:

If they behavior is not working as it is supposed to then it really should be brought to the attention of the Technical Support team so they can investigate.

Point 1 - If it works for you then of course there's no problem.

Point 2 - That feature obviously doesn't work if there is no auto-saved project at the time it crashes.

Regardless... this is obviously a waste of time.
