Create an On Screen Timer While Filming

A good video is a short video. I am not always cognizant of how long I've been taping.  Having a transparent grey timer on the screen to let me know how long I am taping would be really helpful. I do not want the time to show up in the final recording, but just an on screen cue to help me keep it short. Even better would be if I could set a maximum time so the grey timer would change to yellow and red as I reach my max time.

Hi,

You can record the timer from an iPad and use it in Camtasia on a video track, you can resize and use any place on the screen. Also you can use on computer screen when you type or record or use it direcly from iPad.

Regards,

YR

That seems way too complicated, and I am using Snagit. I have Camtasia, it is more heavy hitting than I need normally. I would just like to make sure my screencasts are between 1-3 minutes. I can come up with a million work arounds, but none that would be as handy as having it automatically show up, via the settings, when I do a screencast.

If you have a second monitor or do a non-fullscreen recording you will get our Video Recording Toolbar which will show a timer, as well as a bunch of controls for your recording.

More info can be found here: http://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-snagit-recording-video.html

Hopefully this helps, Thanks!
