We currently use FogBugz and love the "Send to Fogbugz" output accessory in Snagit. We are moving our bug tracking from FogBugz to Jira and would like a similar control.

Is it possible for us to develop this Snagit Output accessory and contribute it to the community?

Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to tell us how you would like to use Snagit. There isn't a developer SDK that would allow non-TechSmith development of output accessories for Snagit. We have, however, noted your request, so thank you for the great idea.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi,

Has there been any progress on this "Send to Jira" accessory? We could help develop it if you can show us the way. We really need this feature.

You CAN develop accessories - just make a program or batch file that accepts an image path as the parameter. Then in your snagit profile under "share" (or maybe it is "output" or "destination"), choose "program" then under "properties" add the path of your batch file.

In your instance the batch file could prompt for the issue ID and then use the JIRA command line interface tool to upload the image.

Another alternative is to simply have snagit email the image to an address that is checked by your JIRA server. JIRA has extensive email configuration settings - it can add comments to an existing issue or open a new issue when it gets a new email. JIRA attaches files or images from the email to the issue.
